“Amazing Experience”

I stay there for 7 day with my wife and 4 year old son and we had a great stayed. My son enjoy every minute in the pool and the green zones. I did not know he loved nature so much. I highly recommend this Hosteria.

We stayed 4 nights at Mar y Sol and we would highly recommend to stay there as we‘re convinced there‘s no better place! Accomodation: Lovely - nice varanda, entrance, small pool area Room: Spacious - has everything you need Staff: Extremely friendly and helpful Food: Amazing - We ate in different restaurants for lunch, but the food at Mar y Sol was way better! We highly recommend booking with breakfast and dinner. They offer a daily fish or meat meal but you can also ask for a vegeterian one (as I did several one‘s and was as well really good!) Location: On the one hand great as there is nothing but pure nature around and you enjoy the quietness. But on the other hand it‘s not easy to go out for dinner or sth else in the evening. Even though the owner drives to the north every morning at 7.30am and picks you up every evening at 6pm in the north, otherwise you have to find an alternative e.g. renting car or moto, buying for a taxi (which is quite expensive). All in all, we appreciated our stay and woul definetly stay there again!

We flew to San Andres after three nights in Panama City. It’s always a leap of faith to stay somewhere that you’ve never been and I was originally a little worried about the remote location. However, the tranquil and remote location, coupled with Luis’s daily shuttles to town, made for an ideal mix of city, beach, and remote island life. We really felt like we got to immerse ourselves in the culture, especially since we were the only Americans at the hotel. On our first day, we arrived in the afternoon , so we decided to use a couple bikes to ride around the south tip of the island. In our wandering, we stumbled upon the Hoya Soplador “geyser” which was conveniently surrounded by a hopping bar that served delicious drinks in fresh coconuts. This was a great adventure for a short afternoon, but do be careful that you choose good bikes, as one of ours ended up with a broken chain when we were almost back to the hotel. The owners were wonderful and ever-so tolerant of our sad attempts to communicate in broken Spanish. Thank goodness for Cesar and one of the employees, who both spoke English, as they saved us from from our own language inadequacies! Even with our language barrier, I highly recommend that Americans stay at this hotel. I thoroughly believe that travel is about experiencing the local culture and this place will certainly allow you to do so. There are only two things I would make sure you are prepared for before staying at Hosteria Mar y Sol. First, the location is nowhere near any businesses. You will need to have transportation or a taxi if you want to go out at night. There is a bus stop on the east side of the island, but the road to the hotel is very dark at night. Second, this is an older hotel and it shows. If will fill your needs, but it’s not luxurious. It’s a bed, bathroom, refrigerator, tv, and a warm meal, which is all you need if you’re on the island to relax, explore, and enjoy the natural beauty.
