Our stay at Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar was not just our first family vacation — it was one of the most meaningful experiences we’ve ever shared, and I will forever be grateful to this resort and its people. After months of careful research, I chose this resort for a trip with my five kids, and from the moment we arrived late Wednesday evening, I knew we were somewhere special. We were welcomed with genuine warmth — help with our bags, an easy and stress-free check-in, and refreshing drinks that instantly made us feel like we had arrived somewhere safe, happy, and cared for. Our room was clean, spacious, thoughtfully laid out, close to everything, and larger than expected. Housekeeping was incredible, daily cleaning, fresh towels and water, and the sweetest daily surprise for my kids: beautifully folded towel creations on the bed. Those small touches meant more than words can say. The pools were pristine and perfectly warm. We loved having different spaces to enjoy, the sports pool, lounge pool, and the lively swim-up bar pool. The grounds were breathtaking: lush greenery, stunning views, and a layout that made everything easily accessible. You could feel the pride and care put into maintaining the resort, not a piece of litter anywhere, just beauty and nature everywhere you looked. We had modest expectations for food and were absolutely blown away. Breakfast at the buffet quickly became our favorite part of the day, especially the omelet chef, who somehow made the best eggs I’ve ever eaten. Lunch and dinner had familiar options with daily changes, which we loved because it let us explore everything and discover favorites. The variety of chefs - pasta, meats, fish, pizza — combined with fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, rice dishes, salads, and truly incredible desserts, made every meal something to look forward to. The Japanese restaurant deserves special mention. It was not just a meal, it was an experience. Delicious, exciting, and so entertaining that it became one of our most cherished memories from the trip. Each bar across the resort had its own unique atmosphere. My teens especially loved the sports room, spending hours playing pool, darts, air hockey, dominoes, and more. The bartender there was always kind, patient, and welcoming. The snack bar was perfect for quick bites, and the lobby bar and coffee bar made amazing coffees that became part of our daily routine. The nightly entertainment was outstanding. Every evening offered something different — discos, games, dancing, guest participation, kids’ shows, magic, romance — all incredibly well organized and full of joy. These weren’t just shows; they were shared moments that brought people together. The beach was peaceful and beautiful. We relaxed on the boardwalk, swam in the ocean, enjoyed the beach bar, and explored wonderful snorkeling spots. No matter where we went, staff were always nearby, ready to help set up loungers or make sure we were comfortable. Our favorite spot was the pool bar, made unforgettable by Diane. She didn’t just serve drinks, she brought kindness, laughter, and genuine connection. She became part of our vacation story and someone we will always remember with love. But above everything else, it was the people who made this trip extraordinary. The staff here don’t treat you like guests — they treat you like family. Daynay went above and beyond every single day, making sure we knew what was happening both on and off the resort. Because of her, we never felt lost or left out, and we were able to fully experience everything this resort had to offer. Her warmth and care made a real difference for us. And then there is the entertainment (animation) team — truly the heart and soul of this resort. They don’t just entertain; they create connection, joy, and a sense of belonging. Two people, in particular, changed our entire experience: Lachy and Lesbany. What they gave us went far beyond activities and shows. They brought energy, laughter, encouragement, and genuine friendship. They made us feel seen, included, and at home. Because of them, Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar is no longer just a destination — it is a place filled with people we now carry in our hearts. They are not just staff members to us; they are friends for life. We arrived as guests. We left with memories, gratitude, and friendships we will never forget. This resort has our highest recommendation, and it is the reason we will return again and again. Thank you, Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar, for giving our family something truly priceless.

January 2025 This is my fifth visit to this resort. I love this place for many reasons... the people who work here are friendly, funny, really lovely people. It's is great to see them again. Custumer service : Olivia, Dayany, Lianne, Anna Lobby bar : Yudaisy( love her name ), Isel, Ayanna, Yuriel Ochoa, Maikeily, Mercedes, Leidis Margarita Buffet: Leyanis, Yenisbel, Daria, Doris, Sophia, Suyen, Sourima, Magdeney and her twin sister, Marisleidys, Aliuska Beach bar : Yudenia, Abdele And the beach guys : Yorge, Andres and Beisel I want to remember their names because they make my vacation amazingly pleasant . I am always satisfied. The buffet is always offering a variety of food to choose from, i enjoy the way they prepare my fish, always fresh fruits, cheeses, desserts. I always find something that satisfies me. I enjoy snorkeling: I have seen a stingray, barracudas, angel fish, conch, blue tangs and many usual reef fishes. That is my favorite activity! My family and I have been to this hotel 5 times now. It is a smaller hotel, calm, quiet and absolutely beautiful. Hotels are all about personal choices and opinions. If you want to party, if you want to relax, if you want to explore outside of the hotel in cities. If you plan on just sitting on a beach all day and so on. My personal choice is, I love this hotel because it is smaller, so the maximum capacity is not as big as other hotels and the wait times for food is little to no wait at all. You never have an issue finding a chair by the pool or beach. Though they do have an entertainment crew that does their daily routines by the beach and pool side, it’s still always peaceful every where. The staff are absolutely amazing people. I can not express how much I adore all of them. The beach does have a board walk on it. Our first time going I was skeptical of it, but did it for my family because they are the explorers and reviews said there was so much marine life. I LOVE the boardwalk. Yes there is still white fluffy sand everywhere. To the left of the beach where the boardwalk ends there is your walk in area. To the right of the board walk is land that goes out quite away and it blocks all the wind from the beachfront. It is always, clear, flat water. Beautiful. So beautiful. The marine life is crazy. I have never seen so many star fish in one area. Fish of all shapes and sizes. If you’re willing to venture around and look under rocks you can find many hidden creatures. On the other side of the boardwalk to the right, is cliff area (behind bungalows) there is no access to it from the beachfront (unless you walk on the rocks ), but there is a walk way behind the spa you can go look to the right at the ocean, my husband was fishing there and I was there for moral support and we saw wild dolphins. You would not see them from the beachfront. But from where we were you could. If you want to see the most beautiful beach ever (last of the photos I’m posting) it is called Pilar Beach. Where Ernest Hemingway wrote a book. It is about a 25 minute walk along the beach, I recommend water shoes because the walk is over rocks at times. Or taxi drivers take you down for $5 per person round trip and ask what time you want to return and will bring you back. It is absolutely beautiful. It is off the hotel so any beer or food you get there you have to pay for. This hotel is very far from any city. So other than Pilar Beach, and the little market down the road, and other hotels there is not much to do outside the resort that isn’t an excursion where they are bussing you too. There is a cave party somewhere on the island that i have heard is amazing but we don’t stay out till 3AM. Once a week you can get bussed down to Grand Mutu is out front there is a little market and they have a party and invite guests from every hotel. Drinks are included and you can shop their market and dance and enjoy entertainment and meet people from other hotels. We have done the catamaran, swimming with dolphins and the jeep tour. All are fun but if I had to pick a favourite ours would be the Jeep Tour. The beach offers free kayaking, paddle boards and because the water is clear and flat protected from the wind it is beautiful and fun and safe for kids as well. There are also catamarans that take you out to a small Island you can see from the beach, they take you snorkeling and you can see debris of an old ship wreck from the war that washed up, again clear water tons of fish, then if you would like they leave you at the island to explore and enjoy a meal at the restaurant that’s on the island. You tell them what time to pick you up they come back. Lunch I believe is $25 each includes a drink. We use to “hotel hop” every time we travelled. We were always looking for somewhere new to explore. Never had a bad experience at any hotel. However this one felt like home. There’s something about it and the staff that we could not imagine going anywhere else now.
