I fell in love with the charm and serenity of this place, as well as with its accommodating and friendly staff. The grounds have the feel of being on a Balinese family’s compound that is permeated with its ancient spiritual and cultural heritage. Staff daily continue to reverently make the traditional offerings to the many shrines on the property. Breakfast is served in a lovely appointed open air dining deck at the front of the property overlooking the grounds. Very ample breakfast choices, of western egg selections or Balinese dishes, fresh pressed watermelon juice, as well as a nice selection of tropical fruit, tea or coffee. Free tea and Balinese cakes are offered gratis in the afternoon. We had a studio room, which has a large bedroom and spacious bathroom with bathtub and a very ample open roofed shower room.There is also an open air kitchen at the back, with a locked door into the bedroom. We so enjoyed the pool, the water temperature was perfect and enough sun loungers for the number of guest there. Cleaning staff does a great job with the rooms each day and very respectful of guests schedules. A must while at Chili Ubud Cottages is a massage by their talented masseuse. One of the best massages I’ve had for only 190,000 Rupiah, about 13 USD. Would love to return next year.

Upon arriving at Chili Cottage we were impressed with location, surroundings and wonderful hospitality of the staff. We were a family of 4 and booked into the large family cottage with 2 bedrooms. It was evident upon entering that the cottage was dated and needed a major renovation especially the bathroom which was dirty, infested with insects and it's drainage stank. The beds were comfortable, but linen was stained and pillows were very stiff. The swimming pool also required some attention as tiles were falling of. The breakfast was simple but tasty- including a fresh juice or fruit platter, eggs or pancakes. The major benefits of the cottage was the location as it is behind monkey forest, there are plenty of low key, family friendly restaurants and massage parlours in minutes walking distance. (A family favourite was Black Sheep- amazing pizzeria and bakery). To walk into town took just 10 minutes along an extremely busy dirt path which ran alongside monkey forest. It was an interesting rat run of dodging monkeys, motorbikes and other pedestrians. We would consider returning to the area, but would not return to the cottages until assured that the properties were well maintained. We recognise that the price of accomodation is extremely reasonable, but would suggest for continued positive reviews and sustainability that the resort considers a renovation and price increase.
