Our stay at Mandra Edera was great! Lessons are adapted to one’s level (from complete beginner to advanced) and the excursions are absolutely beautiful! The horses are really well taken care of, I have never seen such beautiful, nice and healthy horses on a horse riding holiday. Moreover, they are all very high level horses. Everyone here is very nice and Paola gave me great jumping lessons. I can’t believe how much I progressed with just a week of riding with her! The pool is great to relax after riding and having the horses walking freely in front of the room really felt like paradise. They are not scared of anything and use to people coming and pet them. Mandra Edera also has a lot of dogs, all looking for cuddles and play! Horses, dogs, the one cat, Romeo the singing donkey and humans all live in complete harmony there. We did two excursions at the beach, one going in the sea with the horses and the other one walking along cliffs with an astonishing view. All the staff was really nice and always happy to help you out! They were also very flexible and never complained if we did not fully respect the breakfast and dinner time. This horse riding experience was the best I experienced, on all level. Leaving at the end of the week was really tough, but we already decided to come back next year! I would just highly recommend to rent a car for the stay, as a car is needed if you want to go around and visit a bit :)

“Superb riding lessons and great excusions in beautiful Sardinian countryside ”

Was pleased to see little change except some improvements in this countryside riding estate. Horses wandering freely across the grounds, great food and delicious local wines and homely bungalow complete with small fridge and mugs and a kettle for tea along with usual shower and toiletries. Flowers adorned the green lawn and butterflies and pretty moths graced the day and evening chased by birds and bats briefly disturbed by the odd bark from one of the four dogs that guests can't help but to adopt during their stay. We had more lessons this time and I was pleased to generate from over 12 months without jumping to clearing 3 small jumps in a row under the excellent tutorials from Stefano. Our other guide skilfully took a mixed level group on a long excusion or hack entertaining us with acrobatic antics on route such as headstands and flips. The 3 hour ride saw fast canters, small village and water stop plus trots through the countryside. Paula then showed her partnership with her horse riding without a saddle through forests and sandy dunes reaching the beach just before sunset where we allowed all horses to ride through the sea as fitted our personal riding comfort whilst she took video shots using our phone. Coco the waitor was nonplussed at our late arrival for dinner following our evening beach ride as they cater for such trips and our wine bottle saved from the night before was produced swiftly followed by a three course meal of vegetable meat balls, gnotteti and then tender veal. Daytime permitted car drives to the beach and a trip to see a nearby waterfall as recommended by Coco. We finally drove to the local shop on our way out to horde delicious locally made biscuit and cake to take home.

Upon arrival we immediately felt a sense of calm descend. Jessica welcomed us with information about what we could expect from our riding holiday over the coming days. During our stay our accommodation was a little house in the gardens with a view of horses roaming freely. It had a bedroom, bathroom, lounge area and outside seating - perfect for the two of us. The rooms were cleaned daily along with replacement towels and toiletries. As our holiday had all meals included we could choose meals for the following day during the evening meal - a great choice of hearty home made deliciousness served by a friendly team of staff - (Stefano and Danilo). The highlight however was the opportunity to experience all Sardinia has to offer on horse back. Our fabulous guides Daniel and Paula led us on our fabulous horses Quassio and Milindrosa through the rugged and wild scenic mountains, forests and coastal areas. It was a ride of diversity - six different landscapes in as many days. We stopped along the way to enjoy picnics, farm lunches and barbecues before returning to our accommodation to relax and take a dip in the (icy) outdoor swimming pool. Fabrizio was always on hand to help with saddling and driving us to the next location and cooks the most amazing barbecue pork! (Its a good idea to hire a car as then if you have a spare hour you can visit the local narghe or picturesque town of Bosa). You need to be saddle and ride fit to make the most of this holiday, able to brush, saddle and care for your own horse and be willing to learn from Daniel and Paula and their wealth of riding knowledge. We came away richer from our experiences and had an amazing time - thank you all at Mandra Edera for your hospitality and allowing us to be part of your world for a time.

“Beautiful setting but disappointing for the price ”

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights. We are not riders but wanted some country side and relaxation. My partner and I stayed for 3 nights. We are not riders but wanted some country side and relaxation. Pros: - Setting is beautiful, gorgeous trees and lawns and peace - Room was spacious, comfortable bed, good shower etc - Unique and special feeling of the horses and families enjoying their lessons etc. Really is lovely with friendly dogs wanting to play. - Swimming pool area is great although it could do with a bit of tlc - Friendly staff Why we were disappointed - The dinner was really not good.., only ate there once as it was that bad. 3 small red pepper cookies for starter and a terrible risotto that tasted like microwaved rice. My husband had sweet and sour pork which was a tiny portion of just pork and not much else! It was not good cooking which is such a shame and could be easily fixed in a place like Sardinia with its wonderful food! - The room was not that clean. Although it had been cleaned it had dirt on surfaces from time being shut up and had such a strong smell of air freshener it took us a while to get rid of it! The sofa had crumbs on it too and a deep clean in the corners was well overdue. - Didn’t have the level of service/facilities or nice touches you’d expect from 4*. No tea/coffee/mugs in rooms, complimentary water, no proper coffee at breakfast (the rest of breakfast was good), wifi doesn’t reach the rooms - Not good value as a result.. I wonder if it’s because we don’t ride that we expected more from the other aspects of the hotel. It wasn’t for us but if the riding is your priority maybe the other things won’t matter as much.
