We stayed at Kariega from March 13 to March 15, 2026. Kariega is a wonderful, peaceful, safe and clean place to enjoy a Safari. The staff is overwhelming friendly and the food is good. But let‘s focus on the safari tours/game drives: The schedule included a morning drive at around 6 am and an afternoon drive at around 4 pm, each lasting approximately three hours with a short break for coffee or drinks and snacks such as muffins, nuts, and biltong. Kariega assigns the same ranger to each group for the duration of the stay, which we found very beneficial, as it allows for continuity, more in-depth discussions, and a more personal connection over time. Our guide was Archie Tambo. From the very beginning, Archie stood out. He created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in which we immediately felt comfortable and well looked after. His calm and confident manner gave us a strong sense of trust and set the tone for an excellent overall experience. The game viewing was outstanding. Thanks to Archie’s skill, dedication, and clear experience, we were fortunate to see the Big Five as well as many other animals, including cheetahs. What made the experience particularly special, however, was the depth of his knowledge and the way he shared it. His explanations of animal behaviour, plants, tracks, and ecological relationships were not only informative but also engaging and easy to follow, adding real substance to each drive. Each drive was thoughtfully structured and varied, never feeling repetitive. Archie struck a great balance between exciting sightings and informative moments. He also shared interesting stories and background information, and showed genuine interest in the group, which made the experience feel personal. In addition, he consistently found excellent spots for taking pictures (other ones would name it instagrammable 😉). Archie’s interpersonal skills were equally impressive. He was attentive, patient, and inclusive at all times, making sure that everyone in the group felt comfortable and involved. His natural way of engaging with our child was particularly noteworthy - he felt at ease immediately and remained enthusiastic throughout (a highlight was sitting beside Archie in the front row during a bumpy drive). It was clear that Archie has a strong ability to connect with people. He also told us about his personal story, which impressed us greatly. We also appreciated the broader perspective he offered, particularly his insights into the positive impact of tourism on local communities. This added an important and meaningful dimension to the experience. What truly distinguished Archie was his genuine passion for his work, which was evident throughout. Combined with his professionalism, knowledge, and approachable manner, this made a significant difference to our stay. Overall, Archie delivered an excellent safari experience across all aspects - game viewing, knowledge, organisation, and interaction with guests. He clearly goes above and beyond what one would normally expect, and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a truly memorable safari. If we would have to rate the time with Archie it would be a 5/5 🤗👍. Well done and thank you Archie.

“We arrived at the Lodge and were greeted with smiley faces and a glass of refreshing liquid.”

We had an amazing experience at the game park. The meals were delicious, the winds were fantastic, the accommodation was clean and everything was provided. We had a great view of the waterhole where animals came to drink.

A fantastic, unique and intimate experience with some of the most amazing animals in the world. Despite there being a lot of guests you were each placed into small groups and it felt private and special. You rarely saw another group on the game drives
