Just back from a brilliant five days stay at Vuyani lodge. I saw so many wonderful animals in their natural setting. Watch out for the cheeky monkeys, be captivated by the elegant giraffe and in awe of the magnificent elephants. The lodge is in such a special setting. The staff are wonderful, the food delicious, the Safari drivers knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife. The day trip to Kruger was expensive but worth every penny. I would recommend the boat trip too as the scenery is outstanding and we saw a very large crocodile floating in the lake. All in all a fabulous and unforgettable Safari only wish we could have stayed longer.

Just came back after staying at Vuyani for 5 days and had a fantastic time. Me and my partner booked direct and flew to johannesburg (from UK) and chose to get a transfer to the Vuyani which was 5 hrs + (rather than fly to hoedspruit) but we did get to see some beautiful scenery and stopped off at the best service station i have ever seen with animals! This was my first safari and part of my 50th celebrations but my partner had done several safaris before. Accommodation was great (I loved the outside shower) and because it's in the reserve and not cordoned off, we had animals around us from time to time, even an elephant on the last evening. The main lodge has a nice infinity swimming pool and lovely view from upstairs across the reserve to the stunning mountains in the distance. The food was great and you are well looked after and get a choice of evening meal / breakfast. We had a couple of evenings around the firepit and a BBQ and Vuyani made an effort to provide a birthday cake for me - which was a really nice touch - thank you!! Because you eat together, go on safari together and also maybe excursions together - you get to meet other guests as they come and go and that added to the experience. Everyone we met was super friendly. So to the actual reason we came, the safari was so memorable. We saw so many animals, way too many to mention here. It's the end of the south african summer and it's been a wet one so everything was lush and green - so it made spotting animals a little harder and some of the reserve was not accessible, but that did not matter as there were still so many tracks to explore. Every safari was different and often down to luck as to what you saw, but the guides are in contact with one another so they often deliver if you want to see a particular animal. We did the day trip to Kruger we highly recommend. It's a long day but we saw wild dogs and hyenas as we entered and you will see much bigger herds of zebras, elephants, ostriches, etc - something you won't see in Vuyani. Also the landscape is much more savanna style rather than thick bush in places at Vuyani. We also did the blyde river canyon boat trip which has the most stunning scenery. Saw hippos, a crocodile, birds, monkeys, baboons, etc. The guides who drive the jeeps and spotter at the front are all very knowledgeable. English is not their first language so you do have to listen carefully and it's really down to personal preference who you may gel with better. You do come across the outer fence from time to time, and some people do live in the reserve and if you manage to find a leopard (the hardest to find) a lot of jeeps can congregate at once, but that did not detract from the experience for me. On the last night we had an amazing experience where a huge elephant came right up to the main lodge's front door. Terrifying and wonderful experience at the same time.
