We were very impressed with this relaxed and pleasant hotel. Although it did not have some of the kind of amenities or services one would find in 3 or 4-star hotels, it is perfect for anyone seeking a good holiday hotel. The room was very clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the setting rather beautiful, including a small but nice swimming pool. The miniature-bar prices were very reasonable indeed, and the pillow menu a nice touch. Considering breakfast was included, this hotel offers superb value for money for those seeking a good base from which explore the area.

Booked a late deal and this was one of the cheaper hotels for the dates we wanted (Peak / start of July.) Comfortable, clean, nice small pool area, surprisingly quiet. Room had a small fridge, small balcony overlooking the town/sea, easy to park near by. Breakfast was a little basic, no cooked option. We didn't get chance to eat an evening meal here, but would try it next time as I think we will return. Walking distance to the town - 5 minutes to the first lot of bars/restrauants, 10 mins to the beach. Great little rock bar round the corner, owner is very friendly! Ideal proximity to Cabo de Gata national park and many beaches/beauty spots. Around 30 minutes from Almeria aiport. There's a small mini market 5 mins walk away which closes 9pm. Ideal for water/snacks/beers for the room. iSub diving centre close by was very friendly.

We've been here three times during the last four years. We've come back because it's good value, comfortable, convenient to the bars, restaurants and beaches in San Jose. We've been here three times during the last four years. We've come back because it's good value, comfortable, convenient to the bars, restaurants and beaches in San Jose. You can park in the street or the small car park. The small swimming pool is pleasant and in September in spite of the searing heat, we always had it to ourselves. The rooms are simply but pleasingly furnished and have a fridge and tv. Wifi is now available in the rooms, around the pool and dining area now - an improvement since we were last there in 2015. The balconies are great, plenty of room and all have views over the town and the bay. The bathrooms are small and have no bath, only a shower (which has no curtain or splash panel) so the water gets everywhere even though it's not a proper wet room. But this is not really a problem as everything dries up quickly. Tip - put the toilet paper over by the wash basin when you have a shower otherwise it will get all wet! The breakfast is adequate. Don't expect a wide choice or a cooked breakfast as this is a hostal. But you will find something you like and the coffee is quite good. Finally, a thing to note is that this may not be a good place to stay if you have mobility issues as it is on a short but steep hill and there are lots of steps up to the rooms - due to the design of the property, there are no lifts and few ramps.

I stayed here a few nights whilst hiking in the Cabo de Gata national park. The hotel is located slightly up a hill, about 5 minutes walk from the main street in San Jose. The rooms are tiered up a hillside, meaning that the views are quite nice from the balconies/terraces. The hotel is a fine base for exploring the area. It's quite basic, in that rooms have limited furnishings and look very dated. Some features (eg electrical sockets, paintwork of the bathroom) would benefit considerably from refurbishment. For example, there was paint peeling off the ceiling of the bathroom. The room had air conditioning but we didn't need it, San Jose is very quiet at night so open windows are fine. The selection of items at breakfast seemed limited- cereals, yogurt, a couple of cold meats and one cheese. The hotel had limited free parking spaces for customers. There is wi-fi, but only in the reception area, which is a little annoying compared with the provision in most European hotels (whenever reception was closed, there was invariably a collection of people stood outside the door trying to get a signal). Overall, comparing the price paid and standard, this hotel didn't represent good value for money but it is a reasonably comfortable place to stay with nice sea views.
