As other reviews have mentioned the rooms have everything you need and ours had fantastic views. The hotel is in a lovely setting and not so far from Firgas and many other villages worth visiting which is why we chose to stay here. The access lane from the main road does have potholes especially as you first turn in but we have experienced just as bad on British main roads. Just needs a bit of care and certainly not a farm track. Excellent parking. There is a security fence around the perimeter but how anyone can describe it as giving a prison appearance baffled us. It is fairly unobtrusive and dwarfed by the lovely scenery all around. The hosts are very friendly and helpful but at times their presence ( or their staff) could have been a bit more obvious. Gave us the feel of a B&B rather than a hotel. There is no swimming pool but the hot tub/jacuzzi provided a nice alternative for a dip and relaxation after a day sight seeing or walking. A full pool would really enhance the hotel.There is a bar (empty)in the main building but drinks seemed to be located in the restaurant building and sometimes a bit difficult to obtain a drink. An honesty bar could be a good idea if the owners don't want to man the bar all the time. Breakfasts were fine though maybe not the sort of choice you are offered at larger hotels but what was there was good. We stayed for dinner and enjoyed the 3 course set menu offering. Good quality and good value. A pity that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening but the restaurants just down the road, while maybe not looking great from outside provided excellent service and food -mainly charcoal grilled meats. As others have summarised - could be excellent with a few improvements.

“Comfortable hotel with great restaurant”

Stayed here three nights on a walking holiday. Room (ground floor with terrace) was very comfortable with great shower (but more electric sockets would have been useful). Stayed here three nights on a walking holiday. Room (ground floor with terrace) was very comfortable with great shower (but more electric sockets would have been useful). Dinner in the restaurant Irejul was exceptional - amazing croquetta, grilled vegetables, pork tenderloin, chocolate cake to name a few. Portions are huge. Breakfast was also good - hot food included meat pastilles - good quality cold meats and cakes/pastries. As other reviews note there is room for development but we’d come back.

“Great hotel”

This is a great hotel with beautiful big rooms and an excellent restaurant. It was a perfect place to return to each day on our walking holiday. Great shower and a comfy bed. This is a great hotel with beautiful big rooms and an excellent restaurant. It was a perfect place to return to each day on our walking holiday. Great shower and a comfy bed. True, it does not have a 24 hour reception or a bar as such but we received a warm welcome and Jasmine and her staff were friendly and helpful and always around somewhere to make sure we had everything we needed. And we never went thirsty! Jasmine in particular went above and beyond when we had a minor medical issue - walking related!

We booked Hotel Melva Suite as we were looking for a small hotel with restaurant that had other local attractions near by. Firstly, we discovered that as it was the quiet season the restaurant and bar were closed. In fact, after breakfast in the morning we didn't actually see any staff about, with the whole complex closed up on our return each late afternoon. We only ever saw anyone in reception on the day of our arrival. The website mentions two restaurants about 5 minutes walk down the hill. They served pretty much the same menu, which is fine if you like Canarian potatoes and grilled meats. Both are very popular with the locals. It's not possible to get breakfast at either, although the hotel website seems to imply you can. The staff in both were friendly but spoke only very broken English. The hotel is in the suburb of La caldera, Firgas itself is about 10 minutes drive away - the description on this site suggests there's lots you can walk to - no you can't unless you like walking on narrow mountain roads with no pavements. There are walks in Firgas, but nothing local to the hotel. As the hotel is about 500m above sea level, it was a few degrees cooler than on the coast, the weather was damp while we were there and the hotel was often in the clouds. When clear, there was a nice view of the hills opposite and Las Palmas in the distance. Our room itself was was very comfortable and well appointed, and very comfortable. However, we found the heating controls a bit random, and seemed to take a long time to heat up. Once on, the room warmed up quickly. As the bar and restaurant were closed for the winter, facilities to make hot drinks would have been appreciated. There was a fridge so recommend taking travel kettle and mugs. The safe did not work and was not fixed during our 7 night stay. Breakfast disappointed. The food was not of particularly high quality. Bread rolls, although freshly cooked that morning were obviously bought in frozen - a basket full of semi defrosted rolls were brought out one morning. Oddly, there was a bowlful of tinned fruit salad each morning. With all the lovely produce on the island, a bowl of freshly prepared fruit salad would have been a nice touch. Orange juice seemed to be of the dilute to taste variety - not terribly nice to drink. Bizarrely, on our last morning there was a tray of sandwiches on offer at breakfast - no doubt leftovers from the previous day's conference! The location of the hotel makes it well situated to explore the north of the island and no doubt when everything is open it is quite a nice place. As the hotel was essentially a B&B with staff absent during the evening and a poor quality breakfast, we were very much overcharged, it was not worth what we had to pay.
