We were reading the reviews here and thought that we had made a lousy choice booking this hotel. It may not be four star hotel but it is very adequate for the price (we booked directly). The best thing about the hotel for me was the access to the beach and the beautiful clear water. It is nice to have the few shops on your doorstep. The staff were friendly and for example our door handle got fixed straight away. It is true that is not glammed up but it is clean but the rooms get cleaned and the restaurant was very clean. What I also really liked how well the food were marked (I am vegetarian) and it was easy to pick stuff to eat. We walked almost every night to Play Blanca town and that the walk on the promenade is very nice. In overall a great experience for our family and we have rebooked for next year.

My husband and I just returned from a week in the Flamingo Beach Hotel, our third trip there in 3 years. It's a big complex with multiple swimming pools, including paddling pools for little kids and a water-play area . The one-bedroom suite we had was spacious and had a good amount of storage area, with two comfortable single beds pushed together in the bedroom and two sofa beds in the lounge. The linens were changed once a week, although I had to keep the pillowcase all week. You can go self- catering here, as there is a full-size fridge, a two ring hob top and a microwave. The tap water is drinkable, but is best served cold from the fridge. There is an iron & a table-top board, a kettle and a toaster. We were also given a bottle of fizz upon arrival, a single bag of crisps and some juice. It's comfortable, but quite dated now, as this hotel has been going for maybe 25 years. I had to boil a kettle every morning in order to wash my face, as there was no hot water most days and if there was, the flow was so poor that you'd get wetter in a puddle. The bathroom sink was cracked so badly that I couldn't believe it didn't leak like a sieve. Having reported the water flow problem, they said it was ongoing and they hoped to rectify it soon, but didn't manage it that week! The furniture is shabby and tired. The buffet-style food is varied and generous, but, as most all-you-can-eateries, the food was rather dull and flavourless. Some of the 'hot' dishes were actually stone cold and had to be reheated in the microwave. We did wonder if some days, the chefs repurposed the leftovers and made them into something else. Let's just say that some of the salads looked very familiar the next day. If you like pizza, chips & burgers, you'll be happy, but if you like traditional Spanish type dishes, pretty much eat somewhere else. This is catering for the masses and it shows. There is a pool bar open during the day, but it closes when the main bar & entertainment area opens at 6pm. The hotel caters for little kids every evening, (there are seemingly dozens of TUI entertainment reps) which is annoying when it goes on until 9pm and then the kids are still up & running around during the main shows, if there is anything going on. We saw two (brought in professional-type) acts, plus there was as a quiz & a silent disco, which was rather disappointing. Everything pretty much shuts down at 10 pm and there is nothing else open if you like a late night. The hotel is steps away from a golden sandy beach, which is great though. There are a couple of restaurants there, one which you can eat at if you book it using the TUI app, instead of the main dining room. That was actually the best food we had that week. As AI customers, the wine, tapped in from 5 litre boxes, spirits and fizzy lager were included, but required a strong stomach and an even stronger head the next morning. Suffice  to say, we enjoyed the week, but I don't think we'll be rushing back to Flamingo Beach. It needs a good refurbishment, but I guess there's not much money to do that.
