We arrived at the hotel at 8.00am following a jouney from Bangkok on the overnight sleeper train. Normal booking in time is 2.00pm, however the hotel was extremely helpfull, stating that the room would be ready by 9.00am and that in the intervening hour we could use one of their classic cars with driver to visit a local attraction. The Ping Nakara is a beautiful colonial style hotel, close to all of the city's main attractions. We booked a Royal Grand Deluxe room for our six night stay, the room was very large and beautifully decorated, with a verander that overlooked the pool, all of which was at a very reasonable cost. Throughout our stay all members of staff were realy helpful and a delight to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for them. During our stay my wife and I booked three massages, all were undertakwen in a highly professional manner and again at a reasonable cost. For me as a classic car owner was the hotel has two classic cars a 1955 and a 1974 Mercedes Benz. Even better was that each time we asked one of the three porters/drivers to order us a taxi to take us to the old town or to a local area, they offered to take us in one of the classic cars. In addition, when we wanted to visit the local temple on the Ping river and then take a two hour personal boat ride, they took my wife and I to the location on their two classic three wheel bicycles. This was our third visit to Chiang Mai and one of over 30 visits to Thailand in the past 40 years, staying in over 100 hotels during this time. For us the Ping Nakara rates as one of the nicest we have visited, and one that we will revisit. Thank you Ping Nakara.

We have just returned from an amazing stay at the Ping Nakara Hotel & Spa in Chiang Mai. From the moment we arrived we had the best experience. Everything was top notch. The incredible staff, always happy ,very knowledgeable and helpful are an asset to this hotel. The facilities available in the rooms were excellent and ambiance throughout hotel was lovely . Location was excellent. We were lucky enough to be driven on numerous occasions in the classic Mercedes cars'. Had an amazing Spa treatment and enjoyed the happy hour!! Thank you very much for this wonderful stay. We will be back!

Boutique hotel with all that you need—large English colonial style rooms, well detailed and decorated; pool and spa; nice breakfast, and excellent “hidden” bar, like a speakeasy, behind a sliding door. Bartender excellent as she understand how to do a proper old fashioned. Great location to get where you need when visiting the city and very relaxing. This hotel only has 19 rooms, and thats fine. Very quiet and relaxing, with exception to the sounds of monkeys in the back when they are having a bit of fun—though we saw that as part of the experience and it was a joy. Staff very friendly and they will take you anywhere, including picking you up at airport and returning. Then, don’t forget to speak to Mr. Noom (Tom) the concierge as he will personally take you on an amazing excursion. “Nice stay”

We stayed here for 10nts. It's a little out of the way compared to many other hotels, but we're quite happy walking, so this wasn't an issue. We stayed here for 10nts. It's a little out of the way compared to many other hotels, but we're quite happy walking, so this wasn't an issue. The hotel itself is lovely and the people are very friendly. Check-in and out was easy. The room (with a king bed overlooking the pool) was a good size with a comfortable bed. Sadly, there was a constant odd smell coming from the bathroom. It was always very strong in the mornings, particularly in the shower. I appreciate the drains in Thailand aren't great, which is why we didn't report it. Breakfast was nice but the choice was small. We therefore ended up having the same thing every day. Again, not a huge problem as sometimes the huge buffet offerings you get at the big chain hotels can be a little overwhelming. The smaller offering here stopped up from overeating. The hotel bar - The Library - was very quiet. Often we were the only one's in there. It was also very very cold, but unfortunately, sitting outside was not an option due to us being eaten alive, despite wearing mozzie spray. We didn't eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant as there were simply too many great places on offer. The service of the drivers to take you into the old town was great if you didn't want to walk. We used it just a couple of time until we figured out the best way to walk, which would take around 20mins depending on your pace. All in all it was a lovely stay.
