I stayed at the Sakorn Hotel for 1 week on my first trip to Thailand in 6 years. Located on the tiny street 5 min walk from the pedestrian bridge over Ping river and 20 min walk from the old town, it's not in the middle of everything but is perfect for a remote worker like myself who requires peace and quiet during the day and good sleep at night. The room itself was pleasantly spacious decorated in the classic Thai style with a balcony. Internet was fast, about 200 Mbps. Breakfast was great with 5 choices so there was enough variety. Overall I had a great stay at the Sakorn Hotel, it is awesome value for the money. The only small complaint I have is that hot water in the shower was not really hot, it was either somewhat warm or somewhat cool.

The experience of our 2 week stay at Sakorn Residence and Hotel more than met our expectations. The ease of making reliable reservations online with a reservation company, the check-in process with friendly staff, the cleanliness and pleasant decor of the room all contributed to our enjoyable stay in Chiang Mai. The hotel is located near the Ping River and yet not on the busy street next to the river - a plus for us after staying at a hotel on that street last year. Since we love walking, we found it very easy to walk on the pedestrian bridge across the river to the sights of the city, including the old section. We could walk to our hearts’ content or catch a Grab, songtau or tuk-tuk at any point. We highly recommend this hotel.

Before booking this room, I saw a review from a black diamond member complaining about the front desk service. I have lived in Thailand for 8 years and most Thai people are friendly and kind, until I met the male front desk officer who checked me in on the afternoon of February 19, 2026. In my experience, he is absolutely the worst male front desk staff in Thailand. I used my Thai long-term driver’s license to check in, which is legally equivalent to a passport in Thailand. However, this clerk had no legal awareness and insisted on my passport without any explanation. After I provided my passport, he refused to copy it according to the room allocation and only cared about his own convenience. When I asked him to follow the proper procedure, he even said, “What’s wrong with you?” This is extremely rude, unethical and unprofessional. He is the worst service staff I have met in 8 years in Thailand. I am not giving a full bad review because the female front desk, security and most other staff are very friendly and polite. It would be unfair to blame the whole hotel for one person. However, this male front desk clerk totally lacks professionalism. During check-in, he did not inform me where to have breakfast, where the swimming pool or any other facilities were. I must make this unprofessional behavior public.

“Sparse and Clean”

For a long-term stay, the hotel room has a small kitchen, two toilets, living room, and small outdoor patio. The decor is pretty sparse as are the kitchen supplies. The pool is clean. Breakfast is an additional add on. Staff are accommodating and there is covered parking.
