Very nice rooms/containers , very clean and comfortable !!!! So nice space outside of room for relax or drink your beers!!!Great and very clean swimming pool!!The people here are very friendly and helpful. I recommend it!!

Overall a fantastic stay during the pandemic with restrictions Staff were amazing and couldn’t be more accommodating Great location within Chumphon, walking distance to main shops and restaurants Very nice swimming pool, football table and seating area to relax Full sized bathroom, obviously small bedroom but full sized Queen bed and no issues fitting, only challenge was the extremely hard bed I would stay again for sure if coming through Chumphon

I admire accommodation that offers something unique and interesting and there’s no doubt that Retro Box Hotel certainly delivers comprehensively on that score. The building itself is eccentric and fascinating with a clever design and a contemporary feel. The use of container boxes to construct rooms clearly has advantages and some disadvantages but I respect the vision of the owners to embrace modernity and challenge the utilitarianism of so many modern Thai hotels. Everything is designed around a very clever swimming pool which adds to the sense of flow and constantly changing shapes. At night the building comes into its own , lit up like something from Close Encounters of the Third Kind ; and I hope this design inspires young Thai architects to be bold and brave in their designs in the future. Not everything works, of course, but this is inevitable and part of the price you pay for being brave. The rooms are cosy, the beds comfortable, the pool spectacular and the owner and staff could not have been more helpful or kind. It’s wonderful to see the Chumphon community create this unique hotel and such caring service. Full marks to all involved in this exciting project, which deserves to be a resounding success.

“Good for short stay”

This hotel is certainly different. We stayed in a second floor pool view room which had a double bed in it and a small bathroom with a good shower. This hotel is certainly different. We stayed in a second floor pool view room which had a double bed in it and a small bathroom with a good shower. The air conditioning was good but the room was snug and I would not like to try one without a window. The bed was of the harder type and the paintwork etc in the room/bathroom was showing signs of wear which you would expect with a container after so long. A fridge and water were provided but no kettle etc. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. There was a good coffee machine at breakfast where you could choose several options including hot chocolate and the staff made us fried egg and toast with offer of sausage which we declined. The retro box is conveniently situated but is quite noisy as any sound seems to echo round it especially at night. It is definitely worth a visit for a short stay and is cheap and cheerful. There are no lifts so you have to carry your bags upstairs which may not suit some people but the hotel is worth the price you pay. There was no safe in the room for valuables however.
