Comparing the hotel’s own rating of a 4 star I reckon the Asawann is overall average . I found some cleanliness issues but not major and the breakfast was average . Like some other reviewers the other guests could be noisy . I was woken up at 4 am in the morning thinking there was someone trying to get into my room but it was just a noisy group next door . A stand-out for this hotel is that it is attached to the Lotus shopping mall with restaurants etc . The hotel gives excellent value (compared with another hotel in town see previous review ) and service . All of the staff from reception, to restaurant , house-keeping and portering couldn’t do enough for you and always with a lovely Thai smile . That is why my overall rating is good .

PROS - 1. The staff at Asawann are very pleasing. This is important in any hotel. Asawann have some of the most polite staff - so I enjoyed my stay here. 2. The breakfast is good value and offers lots of choices. 3. The hotel is clean and has the convenience of the Shopping Center & Food Court next door 4. Just outside is a 7-Eleven and transport in the form of tuktuk & moto drivers. 5. Beautiful, comfortable lobby CONS - Some rooms have been upgraded. Some rooms are old and urgently need upgrading. I was given an older room which - A) Did not have socket for shavers in bathroom (see pics attached). Even the hairdryer did not have a socket as the picture shows. So to connect my electric shaver I had to disconnect the TV, then pull the cord from behind the TV to the mirror. Too much drama every morning & very inconvenient. B) No socket at mirror- table in room so to connect my laptop I had to disconnect the fridge (see pics attached). Very inconvenient. C) Cupboard had no drawer units where we could keep vests, underwear etc. Nothing in the cupboard as pic shows. Base of cupboard is chipped & scratched D) Wake up at 5 a.m daily, when daylight streams into the room. As the pic shows light cream curtains and NO Blackout curtains means light comes into the room from about 5 a.m once the sun rises. We wanted to sleep till 8 a.m but this is impossible with morning light coming through the curtains about 5 a.m. It wakes you up. E) No safety deposit boxes in any rooms (old rooms nor new rooms, none have a safety deposit box). Conclusion - There is one spare socket by the bed to charge mobiles in the older rooms like the room I got. ITS important to have a socket in the bathroom (some rooms have it, some rooms like mine did not). ITS important to have a socket for laptop or other device near the coffee table AND at the mirror. There are 2 sockets near the mirror one is used for TV and one for fridge - no spare sockets. Very inconvenient. Blackout curtains are important so guests do not wake at 5 a.m with daylight streaming through the curtains.
