“HIDDEN GEM WITH A COUPLE OF CAVEATS”

**IMPORTANT** THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE BUNGALOWS. The property has 3 bungalows and 3-4 villas. We visited in the middle of April. CLEARING UP SOME COMMENTS IN OTHER REVIEWS We were a bit nervous about our stay to be honest. Some of the reviews had us worried. 1) The road from Queen's Highway to the bungalow parking - It is dirt. It has built in speed bumps that are designed to route water into the storm drains. They are at an angle so going over them will cause a good bit of back and forth rocking. A normal car rental will handle it fine. Maybe if you had a super low sports car you probably would drag over the speed bumps. Other than those speed bumps, it's just a normal gravel/dirt road. I don't see what everyone goes on about. We were so worried, I specifically rental a Subaru Outback. It wasn't needed at all. 2) Upkeep - There was a comment about tadpoles in the hot tub and another about broken or falling off tiles in the pool. We saw no evidence of this at all. The bungalows do not have a hot tub so that review must have been for a villa. The pool was completely clean, clear, and well maintained. 3) Beach distance - one comment said it was far from the beach. Again, must have been a villa review because the bungalows are super close to the beach. Maybe 40 meters-ish. 4) Prices - a lot of comments and chatter about high prices. I didn't think the prices were any worse than a resort in the U.S. I've been to Hilton Head and Savannah and paid the same prices. LOCATION: The resort location is a little bit mixed. It is only about 15 mins north of Governor's Harbour which is the largest town on Eleuthera. However, it's 1-1:15 from ELH (North Eleuthera) airport. Bigger direct flights (we flew from ATL) only fly into ELH. It's a rough drive to the resort; the Suby's steering wheel was on the right and driving on the left was strange enough but then adding the invisible speed bumps and the pot holes and rough sections of pavement. We went to Harbor Island our second day and after we got back we nix the idea of driving back north to the blue hole. I would highly recommend a car. I did not try to doordash/uber food. I can't speak to that at all. BUNAGLOW: They have a fridge, shower, jetted tub, coffee machine, microwave. Coffee and water are complementary. Also includes a "mini bar" section with liquor and some mixers in the fridge. They have an outside sitting area. They are all king beds so it's very unlikely you'd have kids in a bungalow. The staff gets off at 5pm and Pascal's closes at 9pm. So after 9PM, it's just you and 2 other bungalows. BEACH: The beach was incredible and remarkably quiet. I think we saw maybe 5 people. Staff will set you up at the beach if you WhatsApp them to let them know. Give them about 30 mins heads up. They will take your chairs and umbrella from the bungalow and move them down to the beach. Drink service at the beach is about he only thing I can think of missing. Perhaps the staff would have brought some drinks down from Pascal's for us but since they didn't offer, I would've felt awkward asking. PASCALS: Sammy was the best and he's never met a stranger! He should be your first stop after you get checked it! He's got all the local happenings. He knows who's coming and going. He's like a boozy concierge travel guide wrapped into one. All the food and drinks we had were really good. Every Sunday they do a BBQ and have live music. A lot of locals come out to partake. Patrons of the restaurant are allowed at the pool. So Sunday will probably be the loudest and busiest. When we were there, all the locals left at sunset. Pascal's closed at 9 and all was quiet after that. It does have a completely different feel to it than what we were used to. I'd describe it like Cheers; everybody knows your name instead of like a typical resort setting. The villas are owned by individuals that spend most of the year there. It feels a little like an community of Ex-Pat Americans. Those families/owners all know each other and they will sit and hang out at Pascal's. SUMMARY: For a couple looking to disconnect and enjoy one of the best beaches in the world without the "mega-resort" noise, the bungalows are a secret treasure.
