Stayed here for 11 days in March and loved the location, beach, work staff and uniqueness! Yes it’s a bit run down, the water pressure needs some help and they could sweep the floors better but the people were so friendly and the rooms were cool! Breakfast was the same every morning but was good and always served with a smile! We saw them cleaning the pools but they were chilly and we are beach people so it didn’t matter. We brought lounge chairs down to the beach every day and it wasn’t a big deal! The location is perfect for walking to get groceries, liquor, many restaurants, the caves and catching the bus to go downtown. If you are used to turn down service and room service you won’t do well here. It’s safe, small, quaint and has a beautiful beach!

This place has a lot of character and with some upgrades could be really special. We’re staying in a garden view suite, which actually has an ocean view out one of the windows. The rooms by the pool with a balcony would be really nice, I think. Do not expect this to be anything like a resort, or anything luxury or fancy. It’s an old house with creaky wooden stairs and dirty rugs and dark wood and very few amenities or services. One key per room (actual key) and loose lock. If you’re concerned with security this is not the place for you, though I never felt at risk. Feels like grandma’s house and is quite cool but not really worth what they charge (like the whole island...). There is a small Bob Marley museum/ room and the rooms are named for songs, which is neat. We’re low maintenance and didn’t want a wristband style resort so this place was nice in a quaint/ unique way. If you can go and book in person and negotiate a price it could be better than online. We’re basically the only ones here and they gave us a discount for a week stay. Pros: - Beautiful views of the water (the colors!) - Quiet location and (very small) pool area with 2 small pools and seemingly no one around. We felt like we had the place to ourselves. - Very simple (free) breakfast with one scrambled egg, one piece of bacon and one piece of toast. Good strong coffee and friendly service. - Bus service outside (#10 or 12 and pay when you get off) to get you downtown $1.25 each way (about 6 miles so too far to walk). Not a good walking/ biking area but we still did it every day. Lots of fast traffic and spotty sidewalks. Convenient grocery store and little mall across the street for supplies. Fridge in the room. Microwave would be nice. - No drunks/ partying/ noise except maybe a small crowd in the bar (about 6 stools), nice to be away from the downtown daiquiri/ cruise ship scene. Could be a pro/ con :) - Friendly employees when you do see one- just don’t expect a housekeeping cart or daily service. I’m sure they’d replace towels if you request it. We asked for beach towels at the front desk. Cons: -There are no screens so we have to keep the windows closed a lot of the time due to mosquitoes. - The hot tub is not hot at all, and the 2 pools are quite cool so we never saw anyone use any of them. No fitness center and I never checked out the spa but it felt closed. Again, not a resort. - The beach is private and quiet (and tiny) but also steep and rough (not a good swimming beach), and too short for walking. It says Cable Beach but that is actually down the way, closer to Baha Mar. The beach is nice for sitting but no reef for snorkeling, only a hundred yards long, and no amenities (umbrellas, drinks, etc). Most of the buildings around are run down and abandoned (like much of the island). - No hooks in the room/ bathroom to hang towels or wet stuff. Very few lamps. Room feels unfinished but with cool old wood. Very rustic. Dicey toilet fan, dark bathroom, everything feels old except for new doors and tile. - No real service in the rooms, no coffee for the maker, etc but when we went downstairs they happily gave us some more toilet paper. It’s kind of a self- service hotel with sometimes zero staff around. No hot water originally but they did repair it. - Restaurant slow and expensive but pretty good. Not much else in the area. Everywhere in Nassau after dark requires expensive taxi rides so it’s too bad there’s not more within walking distance (just fast food/ chains). We would take the bus downtown for an early dinner and then a $25 cab ride home.
