We stayed here for 2 nights during the weekend. Lovely hotel staff always trying to help you. We did the ring tour (tickets can be bought from the reception for the regular price), starting from the Seilbahn Assmannshausen next to the hotel. Very easy! We had room 35, with an amazing view on the main street at the front side and the small church. It was like a fairytale. The building and rooms are not modern (some people would say old) - but we loved this fact. It was very cozy and nice. The hotel has 5 public parking spaces, we were lucky to get one. Otherwise you have to drive uphill to park your car more far away. We also visited the Rheinstein Castle (on the other side of the Rhein), which I can really recommend! The breakfast was really good with a wide selection of options. We would definitely come here again. We really enjoyed our stay!

“A lovely stay by the Rhein.”

A beautiful old, rambling property 200 metres from the Rhein. Staff were very welcoming and the room was large and comfortable. Parking was available at no extra cost. Dinner in the restaurant was particularly special and breakfast was good too. Loved it!

We stayed here as part of a group tour with great rail journeys. The hotel is old with lots of beams, and loads of stairs. They do have a more modern annex with a life if stairs are a problem. Our room was in the front, above the bar and next to the church clock tower. Initially we though it would too noisy to sleep but in fact the clock doesnt chime after 10 and the bar shuts then too other than Saturdays when they have music. We werent there then so no problem. However, our room was hot, and had to have the window open all night so we could hear the trains which run all night. We were so tired from our days out though that it didnt affect us too much. Was a bit scary when we had lightning flashes and thunder in the early hours though. The food we had a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains, and 2 desserts. and breakfast was buffet stylt. Adequate choices for the size of the hotel. Its location is good, and next to the ski lift for walking on to rudesheim. There is not much to do in the evenings at assmannhausen is a very small place. Hotel itself is ok but i probably wouldnt stay in that town again.

“Accessibility and poor advertising made a great option go bad”

I chose this charming place as a destination for a girls' weekend with an old friend. Hoping to be pampered, we booked a Superior room - primarily for the advertised Maisonnette Balcony. When we arrived, we hiked up 3 flights of stairs as there was no elevator. Huffing and puffing as we arrived up to our room - 59 steps, I discovered no balcony. I called the front desk and inquired about the mixup, the front desk clerk said, "There isn't one." When I told her it was advertised, she said that I didn't request one. One does not request something that's listed on the amenities. Mind you, we are fit women in our early 50's, but climbing the stairs was a strain. I don't know how elderly or physically limited guests could handle it. The hike from the parking lot uphill was also a strain. A simple warning on the website could eliminate any misunderstandings. All in all, the room was cozy and comfortable, newly renovated, and well-furnished. The bathroom was wonderful, with top facilities. The breakfast was fantastic. With everything else so nice, for the price we paid, it left a bad taste in my mouth with the exhausting climb to the room in the evenings and the false advertising. I felt that it was a cheap way to lure people to their hotel. We were both so disappointed.
