I was ferrying an aircraft VFR from Southport (Gold Coast) to West Sale VIC and had to fly inland rather than coastal because of a large frontal storm system that sat over the east coast for three days. Day three, I landed at Temora in marginal conditions after the challenging 2.5 hr hour flight from Mudgee with turbulence and dodging storm cells. My plan was to refuel, visit the Aviation museum, and then continue flying south to VIC. However, the weather at Temora and at all planned destinations to the south, and even further west, was showing marginal VFR or IFR conditions, so I decided to overnight in Temora. Unfortunately getting wet in a rain shower as I refuelled the plane. The Aviation Museum and coffee shop staff were great, friendly and helpful and they offered accommodation in the SkyLodge cabins at country motel rates. I was keen to support the museum so I booked with them at the airport. A bonus for aircraft owners is that you can park your aircraft on the museum's hardstanding or under their hangar 'carport' convenient if you have luggage and need to park your aircraft out of the elements. The cabins are located off the carpark behind the museum. They have four bedrooms with ensuites off a shared lounge and kitchen area. The self-contained cabins are modern, comfortable and well equipped, have free wifi / internet and the kitchen has all you need to prepare a meal and is stocked with tea coffee, bread for toast, cereals for an Aussie 'Continental' breakfast. I had a comfortable night's stay and next morning a quick breakfast and room to revise my flight plans and depart the following day in improving weather. The only downside (not the Museum's issue) is that Temora currently has no taxi or Uber service. So, pilots and guests wanting to go the 2-3 km into town for a pub / restaurant meal have to have their own transport or get a lift into town and back. I was lucky and was offered lifts with friendly people both ways and had a great pub meal at the The Railway Hotel. I recommend that anyone passing through Temora, whether by car or plane, visit the aviation museum (a must for aviation enthusiasts) and its very good coffee shop and stay in the Skylodge cabins.

“Good value accommodation in Temora”

Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced and so close to the Air Museum! Also close to the city center. Enjoyed our stay. Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced and so close to the Air Museum! Also close to the city center. Enjoyed our stay. It's not luxurious, shared (very well equipped) kitchen and lounge, which is fine. The rooms are spacious with private bathroom. The shared lounge and kitchen do not take away your privacy, on the contrary, it will be interesting to meet people with an interest in aviation, if that's also your interest. Aircraft noise is not an issue, unless maybe on a flying weekend. We were there on a normal weekend, and it was no problem at all. So, even if you're not interested in aviation, we still recommend the SkyLodge!

“Aviation Museum convenience”

Great room, fantastic price. Light breakfast included. Perfect for a visit to the Aviation Museum and of course the cafe. Close enough to Temora "CBD" to find dinner if you don't want to cook. Would recomend to my friends.
