Hotel Laa Therme in Austria is wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and helpful. The restaurant evening dinner was really nice. The waitress that looked after us (Vanessa) was beautiful and very kind and professional, went up and above to make us feel really happy and relaxed. The spa facilities and the sauna world is completely amazing. Thank you very much for having us again, we had a great time!

“Silent Spa Area is LEGIT!”

This review is specifically for the Silent Spa & SaunaWorld (nude section) of Therme Laa. I did not visit the indoor thermal baths at all. I'm a 41-year old American male who traveled here solo and stayed one night at Therme Laa during mid-October on a Monday as it was a stopover for me between Budapest and Vienna. I arrived during the afternoon and went directly to the Thermal bath area at around 3:30pm. From what I recall there were no changing rooms in the thermal bath area so I just put on my swimsuit and robe in my hotel room and walked over, kind of took a while to get there. Since I had a reservation for the separate Silent Spa area, I went there first so I could put all my stuff down at my assigned lounger chair in the relaxation area. I must say that the Silent Spa area looks INCREDIBLE, the decor/ambience and overall aesthetic is unparalleled and gives off the ultimate feel of exclusivity and getaway luxury. It's super clean, serene, you can definitely capture some quality IG type of photos/videos inside by the main fountain/cafe area. In the wide open common areas (including the thermal bath) you are required to wear a swimsuit but there are a few designated nude areas inside the silent spa. If you go upstairs to the small outdoor area, there are two sauna rooms and a cold plunge where you can be naked and it's coed. Those sauna rooms are nice and hot thankfully. And back inside the silent spa area by the showers there is a tucked-away steam bath room that also allows for you to be nude, again it's coed. So I did like the mix of nude to non-nude areas indoor and outdoor for men and women to share. Even in the relaxation area where your lounger is located I saw some people change out in the open by their loungers and I did the same thing, nobody really minds at the end of the day. I felt like a 7th/9th/11th wheel in the Silent Spa area as it was pretty much all local young couples so I'd say this a very couples-friendly spa...may be a different story on a weekend especially since their IG page does feature a lot of single-looking young women posting from there, but I got a completely different type of crowd the day I went. They have refreshments in the relaxation room where your lounger is located such as tea, water, fruit and then the little cafe outside has a menu so I did eat something from there close to dinner time and I thought it was good food all around. I did alternate between the Silent Spa and the generic SaunaWorld which is separate and located within the thermal bath area. The crowd over there was the opposite, mostly non-couples and skewed heavily toward old men, though I did see one duo of young females there during the earlier part of the day. There's more variety in sauna rooms there plus outdoor plunge pools/thermal water and a jacuzzi, and you could walk around naked whenever/wherever in that area. I spent less time here than I did at the exclusive Silent Spa area. Overall I would rate the Silent Spa experience higher than the generic SaunaWorld area...I'd say only visit Therme Laa if you want a true getaway from Vienna as it is a 1.5 hour train ride from Wien Mitte train station. I only wish the Silent Spa area had more sauna rooms and that they could make the entire Silent Spa a nude/clothing optional zone, it was a bit annoying having to keep taking off/putting my swimsuit back on. I do think Therme Wien is more convenient and bigger (and cheaper) if you just want a few hours of spa time and are in Vienna. I would only return to Therme Laa if it's on a weekend and only with a female partner.

The hotel is nice and spotlessly clean, the rooms are very quiet with beautiful views, massive baths and powerful showers, luxurious toiletries, towels and bathrobes, comfortable beds with high quality mattresses and bedding. The reception staff is friendly, helpful and professional, fluent in many languages. The breakfast is exceptional. The formal restaurant is not really worth your time and money in our opinion, running a restaurant and hospitality business ourselves, my husband being a chef, as the food here is trying to mimic high end cuisine, trying to be ’posh’, but really badly. The atmosphere here is very formal, cold, uncomfortable and unfriendly. The waiting staff we have experienced were ignorant and bordering on arrogant. No one is smiling or chats with you, it feels like they can’t wait for you to get out, doing the absolute minimum. They forbid you to wear slippers here and have a phone with you, which would be absolutely acceptable if it’s fantastic restaurant with great service and high quality food, which unfortunately it is far from. Better option, especially if you have children or teenagers, would be the more relaxed part of the restaurant at the back, with a buffet choices and self service. The selection of locally sourced cheeses is incredible. The cheeses are so good! Also there is a self service canteen inside the spa area, which is very convenient, great value fast ready cooked traditional food with lots of options to choose from. The spa is out of this world, with hot salty water outdoor pool, inside pools floating into each other, with slide and fun activities for the children and teens. There is plenty of loungers and sun beds around the area, but the water world can get incredibly busy as it’s open to general public. We loved it here the most at the least busy calm periods that we could experience as being the hotel guests. The sauna world is absolutely outstanding, with many different temperatures and styles saunas, with cold and warm outdoor pools. They provide a great, once in a lifetime fan ceremony inside the sauna, where a lady waves a large orange fan and pours water onto the hot rocks, making the air and temperature inside the sauna even hotter. It’s amazing. Even our eye balls were sweating :). Then you jump inside the cold pool outside. Such sensational invigorating experience for your body and mind! We really liked the massage and treatments available at the spa. The staff here is very professional, discreet and accommodating. Dear Therme Laa, Thank you very much for having us again, we can’t wait to our return!
