“Exceeded all expectations”

We were extremely fortunate to spend the Easter weekend in a Lodge at Bells at Killcare. The experience far exceeded our very high expectations. We were greeted by Leslie, our Lodge host, in the bar and taken to our Lodge. Leslie carefully explained all the amazing features and made us feel immediately welcome. Two large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Bathrooms opened out to day beds and our private magnesium pool. We spent hours lazing in the pool, taking in the view of the bush and sky. Upstairs, a large kitchen and living area and upstairs again, our private deck with panoramic views to Palm Beach and Pittwater. It's easy to see a lot of thought went into designing and constructing the Lodges. Each evening, cocktails of our choice and canapes delivered to our Lodge and each morning a choice of freshly baked bread and papers delivered to our Lodge. Breakfast in the restaurant was perfect - views of the beautiful gardens, a wide choice, great coffee and more freshly baked bread (the mini baguette at breakfast a winner). The staff all attentive and I honestly don't know how they keep their cool when other diners ask to be moved to a table by the window then proceed to spend the entire meal fiddling with phone and ignoring the view they had to be moved closer to - I would not have the patience to deal with such idiotic behaviour. Dinner in the restaurant another great experience - I had the tuna carpaccio and whole salt crust baked NZ snapper - both dishes perfection on a plate; the snapper so expertly cooked, it just melted in the mouth. Our table also enjoyed the scampi, oysters and beef cheek pappardelle and vacherin. We took advantage of the transfer to do a walk in the nearby Bouddi national park. Within minutes of calling to say we had finished our walk, the van arrived and took us back to our luxurious Lodge. I cannot fault a single element of our stay at our Lodge. The Lodge on its own would have made for a perfect break, but when you add in the personal service from Leslie, a truly outstanding on site restaurant, evening cocktails and canapes and freshly baked bread at your front door each morning, this was well beyond perfect. I am not aware of anything remotely comparable in the vicinity. We stayed at Kims at Toowoon Bay each year for over a decade but, even in its heyday, Kims was never as good as this. We are now working out when we can return to a Lodge at Bells.

We visited Bells at Killcare twice in 2025 and both experiences were excellent. We were looking for a peaceful setting in close proximity to beaches and bush walks, and Bells delivered. On top of this, they offered a number of small add ons which just made the experience feel more special (a voucher for their bakery/deli and a complimentary drink at happy hour). The front of house service was consistently excellent and friendly, with all requests met. The accomodation is set in a large garden setting, with a cottage feel. The offering is very solid with good beds, and relatively large spaces. The on site restaurant is excellent, with a well thought out menu, which is regularly updated, so if you are staying multiple nights there is some variation. The food and service at dinner was excellent. Breakfast could be a little slow - good service, but the kitchen seemed to get behind when busy. We would recommend, and will be back.

“Such A Big Disappointment”

This was a birthday and early mother day lunch. Day started beautifully with 4 adults and a toddler in tow. First drinks came out well as did entrees. It went down hill from there. Our mains were Luke warm to cold as were all sides. We had to pour our own water and wine. We felt quite forgotten about. This was a $1000 lunch bill and really not worth the quality of food or lack of service. I think the staff were lovely but not quite attentive enough or maybe too busy. We decided to stop by the little attached store and spent another $200. The lady was so rude and we were such an inconvenience to her day, it was so off putting. We have been very loyal customers for over 20 years, but will not be revisiting for a while an cannot recommend you to our friends who visit the Central Coast.
