My wife stayed in the hotel Aruja a couple of nights ago. She also stayed in the hotel for a night a couple of years ago. It is ideally located for people playing golf at either Aruja Golf club or PL golf club. She stayed in the standard room which was excellent value at R$99 per night including breakfast. The room was clean and fair size although the choice of available television channels was very poor. She asked for an early morning call which she did not get which is inexcusable. Her major complaints relate solely to the restaurant. My wife is a vegetarian and as the only option was a buffet that had very little for her, she decided not to have it. She noticed that there was soup available and asked what the soup was and was told it was turnip or similar but that as it had bacon it would not be suitable for her. They then offered to make up a vegetable soup and some toast which she accepted. When the soup was served, some of the toast came with pieces of ham on it. She returned it and was given some toast without ham. She took the soup back to her room and on trying the soup found it very salty and with a strange flavour. She stirred up the vegetables and found a shrimp.She immediately went back to the restaurant to complain about the shrimp. At this stage she had lost her appetite and decided not to try anything else. For my wife being a vegetarian is an option and is not allergic to sea food or other animals. I hate to think what would have happened if she was. It is rather ironic that when she stayed at the hotel two years ago, she found a dead caterpillar in some black beans on her plate. (This is probably why she thought a vegetable soup would be a safe option) She was nearly sick on the spot and after complaining she walked out. She will certainly never eat in their restaurant again. In the morning when she went to pay her bill, she noticed that they had the audacity to charge her for the so called vegetable soup. She refused point blank to pay for it. I just wonder how many other irregularities are occurring in the kitchen. The mind boggles!!

“An older hotel”

I've stayed in this hotel a number of trips to the city of Aruja. The rooms are small and basic with small beds. Yet the rooms are clean and water pressure is consistent. Their morning breakfast is good and consistent.
