“Great place”

The hotel is great for couples, families and business congress. Rooms are very spacious, the pool is gorgeous, food and desserts are very tasteful! Ask the pool waiter for a 'capirinha', you won't regret!

Staying for a corporate event the grounds are well kept and the rooms clean. The food is very good with a range of options for all meals although very similar day to day and meal to meal. I would recommend they serve wine by the glass for those traveling alone or in small parties with only one or two people who drink wine. The service is wonderful. The pillows are a bit stiff and my room was recently upgraded with new shower. Great hot water. The English speaking is minimal so be prepared to use Google Translate! Very helpful and gracious hosts.

Our experience with San Raphael country was far from being good. Even though I rated it 3 stars, I would easily give it 2 stars if it were not for those facts: food is good, our room was spacious and cozy, and the hotel allows guests to bring their own wine bottles – I was even provided an ice bucket at no cost. In all other aspects, the experience was unpleasant. I was charged R$ 825 for one night, 3 main meals included (breakfast, lunch and dinner), for 2 people. Even though it was a weekend during high season in Brazil, the whole experience was not worthy the price. Those are the reasons our experience in general was negative: 1- The lack of customer commitment started during the reservation process. In the first phone call to make the reservation, I was assisted by Mrs. Selma who was far from being sympathetic and attentive to my requests. As the check-in time is 4 pm, I asked about arriving a little earlier to get to know the hotel and surroundings. She said we were not allowed to do that, and we would need to stay at the reception lobby until our room was free. This is one example of her general unfriendly attitude during our phone call. She sounded like I was bothering her. 2- Receptivity and cordiality during the check-in process. Even though Mrs. Liliane and Mrs. Antonio Carlos were very much friendly, and we appreciated that, Mrs. Lourival was frowning all the time and gave us weird looks – maybe he was worried we arrived earlier than expected, or did not like the fact we asked him to keep our suitcases until our room was available? I do not know. The fact is, we never asked for a free-of-charge early check-in, and any hotel (in my experience) is used to keep/store guests luggage until the room is available. 3- At the front desk, waiting for our room to be available, Mrs. Liliane kindly offered us to have lunch (which, by the reservation rules, would be available to us only in the next day). While I was thanking her for the offering, and saying no, a male staff working in the computer quickly replied that we were not allowed. That was another unfriendly attitude we experienced. 4- Cold water in the shower: in the evening of July 28,at around 7 pm, water temperature was cold. I believe that was caused by the high number of guests using showers at that time, maybe the hotel does not have the necessary infrastructure for situations like those... In the next morning, at around 9 am, water temperature was back to normal (warm to hot). 5- The property (indoors and outdoors) is beautiful but needs maintenance and some remodeling, especially in the outdoor areas. Considering the fact the hotel is very close to São Paulo (around 1 hour drive), improving staff training on customer relations is key to maintain and improving attraction, especially during low season. I don not intend to stay in San Raphael again.

The hotel is located on a nice ground - outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, cozy outdoor sitting. Breakfast offers quite some fresh fruits, juice and warm and cold food. Service is friendly. The rooms are huge (like mini apartment) however the bathroom is poor and the thick carpet in the room is not really the cleanest one. Ok for business or company event but I would not choose this resort for my own vacation. The hotel is about 1.30-2 hours drive from Sao Paulo international airport (GRU).
