The main issues for me were the fact that I was getting in my shower the water coming from the shower int he room above me and the fact that the lights of the corridor were very bright and the curtains did not close properly..… more

No major bad comment but really total lack of charme and sophistication! The main issues for me were the fact that I was getting in my shower the water coming from the shower int he room above me and the fact that the lights of the corridor were very bright and the curtains did not close properly..... Apart from this there is an OK wifi and an OK breakfast!

The hotel itself is refurbished and it seems that the owners keep adding new rooms to their property. We had a luxury suite in what we imagine to be an annex added later to the original hotel, since it is located in the back of the property. On the way to our room we saw piles of bricks, a small cement mixer, and other construction materials scattered around the parking lot. We had to carry our own luggage across the irregular floor of the parking lot and then two floors up using the stairs, since there is no elevator available. Stairs are everywhere in this hotel and you should be prepared for them. The breakfast buffet is good and the food is tasteful. The location of the hotel is very good. It is in the heart of the city, a few blocks from the cathedral and the main square. It seems to be a family-run hotel. We found the staff at the front desk a litte bit stuck-up, neither welcoming nor helpful. They were having a conversation when we arrived and we had to sort of interrupt their chatter to get their attention and negative attitude. Because the hotel seems to be getting annexes with time, it is a bit of an eye-sore. The design of the buildings is irregular and you are surprised by their lack of care in the overall decoration of the hotel. Our room was supposed to have a small kitchen. However, if we wanted to use the microwave, we would have to go to the lobby. Yes, the microwave (and a small sink) is located right by the main entrance. Microwaving popcorn? The smell will be all over the lobby. Microwaving frozen pasta? Run back to the room (2 flights of stairs down, uneven parking lot floor, 4 flights of stairs up) and enjoy your meal. They should not advertise a room with a small kitchen if basic kitchen appliances aren't available in the room. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are the kind of traveler who is not put off easily. But if I ever have to sleep in Santa Cruz do Sul again, I would look for other possibilities before booking this hotel. It is for sure too expensive for the service they deliver.
