We had a five night stay at Hotel Del Paine over Christmas, and it was great in every respect. Rooms - We had two rooms in one of the four room cabins/duplexes. As other reviewers pointed out, you can sometimes hear what your neighbors in the next room are doing, but it did not seem to be a constant thing. Pretty much everyone is going to bed at a decent hour and getting up early to see the sights. Rooms had plenty of space and all had great views. We had an issue on one room where the hot water was barely coming out. As soon as I mentioned it to the front desk, they had someone out there in 5 minutes. They quickly determined that the whole faucet needed to be replaced and had the work done in 30 minutes. Quick and efficient service. Food - Breakfast and dinner were included in our stay. Breakfast was pretty much the same each day, but dinner had many choices each night with only a couple of repeats. On any given night, there was some combination of chicken, steak, pork, and/or seafood. On Christmas Eve, there was a special meal that we paid for as part of our stay, but it included two drinks per person. I'll say that we never went hungry. Everyone in our family found something they could eat each night. Property - What a great area to stay in. The views from the property are amazing. There are cows, horses and dogs that freely roam around the property. We woke up one morning to the sound of horses, and when we opened our door, there were 10 horses standing right outside the door. That was fun. Wifi is freely available in the lounge and dining room areas. Depending on where your room is, you might also pick it up from there. Although the lounge area was a nice place to relax and have a drink prior to dinner or after getting back from a day of hiking. Staff - As mentioned before, the staff were on point. If you needed anything during meal service, they were quick and efficient. If you wanted a drink from the bar anytime during the day, they were happy to make it for you. I will add that the excursion desk was very helpful. Even though we did not do any excursions through the hotel, we did inquire about the weather. I had a pretty good handle on reading what the weather might do, but the day before we wanted to do the iconic towers hike, I wanted to be sure. The guy at the excursion desk told me the weather the next day would be good but maybe leave a little later because the views would be best between noon and 2pm. We did exactly that, and he was spot on with his prediction.

We just checked out of Hotel Del Paine three days ago on a wonderful three day stay with our three children. There was a lot to like about this hotel, and stay, but they were definitely some negatives you need to be aware of. First the positives. What an incredible location, with amazing views from pretty much anywhere you could park yourself on the property. Tons of outdoor space. Probably the best location of any of the hotels in the Rio Serrano area. Also, the excursions desk was very, very good about adjusting itineraries based on whether and our families’s desires, literally up until the last minute. Our guide, Miguel, was both knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and just an overall huge bonus in the overall state. Dinner was likely above average compared to what our expectations might have been. Granted, this is not the fine dining that we are used to in our luxury stays. But this was equivalent to an above average home-cooked meal. Dinner had lots of different choices, each day, including vegetarian and seafood and various meat choices. Never felt stale. Sadly, breakfast was a different matter, with both very limited choices, as well as those very same limited choices every single day. And frankly, none of it really tasted all that good anyway. The negatives really relate to the overall expectations what might have for spending about $6000 for a three day stay. It is what it is; this is the price you pay to play in this part of the world! But we are typically used to a far better bed, more than 150 ft.² room, which is what this felt like, some level of noise insulation in the room which we had none. Those things are likely functions of the way that things were built back 30 years ago and they just don’t want to redo them. Fine. They could up their game on the mattress pretty easily. What is really impossible to understand. It was extremely infuriating was the Wi-Fi situation throughout the property. In order to get Wi-Fi you literally had to stay in one room within the main building. Zero access from anywhere on the grounds or from your actual hotel room. While obviously being able to disconnect from the world and just enjoy the beauty of where you are is a lovely thing, we unfortunately do live in a world where access to information and home is still important. And this at least should’ve been very clearly worded out to us when we went ahead and looked online to the hotel, but we could’ve arranged our own service like a star link. Out of our $6000 stay, I would say that the location and our guide are worth $5900. Hard product itself is worth the rest which is not much. As long as this is fine with you, don’t hesitate and book your trip!

Rooms are basic, but clean. Bathrooms very small and don’t try bath if you are tall. Basic bar facilities. Unlimited tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Great birdlife. Lots of in-house excursions available, including fishing, hiking and kayaking. Good value for money.
