Beijing International Hotel is an old building which is witness to the aesthetic and cultural history of Beijing city, give vistor a sense of place and connection to the past. a manager told me that this hotel opened from 1987. Staffs are very friendly especially at Front Desk, even though most of hotel staffs are not good at English but you can still feel they tried their best to help. Rooms are old, but location is very convenience to the heart of Beijing, Tian'anmen, Forbidden City and etc. Thanks for your serivce.

“4.5-star hotel, with helpful staff”

I stayed one night to attend a job fair. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable bed. Furnishings are in very good condition, but dated. The staff members I encountered were attentive, helpful, and professional. Had to go through a security check to get into the Job Fair I was attending. Seemed a little odd, why a security check to get in here, but not when entering the hotel.

I stayed here for a conference. This is a Chinese hotel, and not a foreign chain, so the experience feels more typical of East Asian luxury hotels than Western. The room itself was for the most part, clean and neat. the bed is comfortable. However, as I have noticed in other Chinese hotels, while the rooms are general clean, the corners of the room seem to gather dust. Lighting and plumbing worked well, no issues there. Ample power outlets including USB ports, but you should realize that there are 3 different types of prongs that are used in this hotel. I was able to use a standard 2 prong flat plug without issue (see photo). Coffee cups and glasses were provided in the room along with a hot pot and tea bags, coffee dripper packs, sugar/liquid coffee mate. There was a mini fridge, partially stocked (so lots of space for your own snacks!), mini safe, and they provide 2 bottles of water a day (note: tap water in China is not drinkable. While some claim it is ok to drink after boiling, that will only kill bacteria but will not remove any mineral/toxic sediments). Amenities included mini bottles of shampoo/conditioner/bath gel/soap/body lotion and a small bottle of bath salts should you decide to use the somewhat narrow bath tub. There is an adjacent but separate shower. Staff were courteous and efficient. I did not have any issues there. None were effusively friendly, but none were rude. There are two banks of elevators which seem to run rather efficiently. I never had an issue with waiting too long for one to arrive. The breakfast buffet that came with my room was wonderful! Lots of traditional Chinese breakfast options such as congee, noodles with do it yourself add ins/toppings, stir fried vegetable choices, tofu as well as typical American and European offerings (which I did not try). Location seems to be in the middle of a financial district, but it is 2 subway stops from the Wanfujing shopping district (which has a lot of malls with high end retailers as well as a few Chinese luxury department stores and souvenir shops).

Big hotel connected to conference centre. 70’s US style, grand entrance, lobbies all marble and big spaces. No atmosphere, no casual dining. Nice quiet (but not that warm) pool and gym. Neighbourhood more local than touristy. Nice staff, allowed me check in early. Great for business or conference, but not for tourists (stay near novotel would be better) unless you want to be close to Beijing Railway Station which is close by.
