Visiting Changbaishan from Singapore, our group of nine chose to stay at the Pullman Resort, an Accor property, and we’re glad we did. From the start, it was clear that this hotel stands out among its peers in the region. It’s relatively new, sprawling, and offers an impressive range of amenities: a tranquil spa, a full-sized heated swimming pool, multiple dining options, and my personal favorite - an enchanting courtyard with roaming deer that bring a delightful touch of nature right to your doorstep. The rooms were immaculate, generously sized, and warm, ensuring we felt perfectly at ease after long days of exploration. I’d especially like to commend our receptionist, Leah Wenwen, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. As first-time visitors from abroad, we weren’t entirely sure how to make the most of our trip to Changbaishan. Thankfully, Leah offered expert guidance - recommending a variety of thrilling activities such as snowmobiling, snow rafting, dog sledding, and, of course, skiing. Her invaluable suggestions not only spared us countless hours of research but also enriched our experience with unforgettable moments. Thanks to her help, we left with wonderful memories that truly set this trip apart. In short, the Pullman Resort lived up to the prestige of its brand and exceeded our expectations at every turn. We would return in a heartbeat.

Booked through the Chase travel agency and stayed 7 straight days for traveling Changbaishan. This was one of the best hotels I ever stayed. The quality and care are just like prestigious European boutique hotels. I’ve been travelled all over, except a few continents, for working, and I’ve barely seen this well managed and maintained hotel rooms and facilities. Staffs were beyond friendly. They treated us like their own family. It was quite pleasant to learn about unique living of Northeastern China. The restaurant managers and chefs are knowledgeable about local foods and ingredients. For every meal, they offered us to try their own cuisine with care. No doubt that the foods and drinks were fabulous, nice & fresh with unique flavors and textures. For communication, you gotta have a little patience with technical equipments (translator app on your phone) if you’re non-Chinese speaker like I am. You’re not in NYC, and expecting to speak English fluently doesn’t make any sense. The hotel staffs tried real hard to talk with me and I felt so grateful to them. For weather, you gotta bring enough things keep warm. It’s not about hotel buildings, it’s the town where the hotel is located. The town is literally in the beginning of Siberia, at least in my perception, and of course expecting warm and pleasant weather like Cancun doesn’t make sense as well. It was one of the best hotel stays and would definitely stay here again next time visiting Changbaishan.

For our trip to see Tianchi, we stayed at the Pullman, which is on the West Slope. The hotel was beautiful, service was good, but it was so poorly heated that walking around the hotel required wearing a heavy winter jacket. The Yuehua restaurant and the driver arranged by the concierge were both pretty good. The spa was a bit sketch. It was also annoying that their payment terminal kept failing transactions. I was able to pay for the rooms with my Amex, but ended up having to pay cash for everything else. The location was 30 minutes from the Songjianghe train station and two hours from the more scenic North Slope in Erdao Baihe, which was a mistake on the part of our planning. Getting to Songjianghe requires another hour and forty train ride from the Changbaishang high speed train station, which is much closer to Erdao Baihe. In hindsight, we should have booked a hotel in Erdao Baihe and saved ourselves hours of train and car rides.
