We will return to Clementine for even more satisfaction. Because for us, what matters is something you can't see, you can only feel. Clementine has that special something.

So many great things about Clementines. Situated in a wonderfully quiet spot just a 10 minute walk from the town centre . The room we stayed in was comfortable and spotlessly clean and had every amenity you could need such as a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, mini fridge and ample wardrobe space. The staff from the moment we arrived to when we checked out were beyond friendly and helpful with a special shout out to Cameron. We would have no hesitation in recommending Clementines for a stay in York. Although we didn’t bring the car we would recommend booking a car park space in advance as there didn’t looked to be too many .

“Distinctive, different and plush”

A bit like a Hotel Indigo in design but on steroids, and with a much bigger bedroom. A great bed, good breakfast and cheerful service. 10’ walk to Bootham Bar, 20’ to station.

There is so much to recommend this hotel, and, as many people have already said, it's quirky, quiet, good facilities and not too far from York city centre. The majority of our 3 night stay was lovely....but....there are some things which need addressing. Our room was lovely at first glance. The decor, and furniture is quirky, eclectic and interesting, with an incredibly comfortable, if a little creaky, bed. It was always spotless and that's thanks to the friendly short haired housekeeping lady, who was always cheerful. But...it needs TLC. The radiator cover fell off on my foot when I wad closing the curtains, and when opening the window which didn't stay up as it's an old sash. Also, I'd expect, in a boutique hotel to have bottled water as standard. Tap water was available if we asked, but it should have been replaced daily. The bathroom was lovely, hot and powerful shower and big fluffy towels. It's incredibly quiet, in a lovely road and there is parking although we came by train which is an easy 10 minute walk away. The breakfasts were a mixed bag. I can't fault the cooked options, although a vegetarian cooked breakfast wasn't advertised, but available when asked. The breakfast room was bright and not too crowded but breakfast felt rushed. The second we sat down, we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee and if we wanted toast, and what sort, brown or white. A little breathing space would be good. The staff were friendly and efficient, but lacked genuine warmth. I can't fault them, but it sort of felt like they were going through the motions. Also, the buffet selection, for a boutique hotel, was poor. There were standard small boxes of cereal, although granola was available if asked. The only fruit available was apple and clementines. It is a lovely hotel with great facilities. The bar, and garden are a bonus, and it has a lovely feel. Would I stay again? Sadly, no. I would like to single out the receptionist when we arrived who was friendly and warm, and also, as mentioned, the housekeeping lady with the short hair who always had a ready smile, and clearly took pride in her work.
