We came for the fishing, but the hotel was a joy in itds own right. A bit difficult to get used to at first - very busy with a large party - but then really warmed to the place. the owners are exceptionally friendly and the location perfect. we had two days fishing here and caught nothing whilst the locals also caught nothing but showed us pictures of their enormous fish. thats life. Cabins are excellent. I very much look forward to returning.

“Luxury Andersen Shelter”

We chose this location due to the novelty value of these rooms come shelters, which appear very unique and cosy. We chose this location due to the novelty value of these rooms come shelters, which appear very unique and cosy. Certainly we'd never seen anything like them before, but appartently have been on this site for 30 years! That said they appeared practically brand new, well kept and above all clean. Yes it was cosy, but big enough for two for a couple of nights. The TV had lots of channels, the shower was hot and powerful, but be warned after 10 minutes, the immersion heater will run out of hot water, so keep it short and sweet. The breakfast (included) was traditional Danish fayre, and if you fancy dinner, the restaurant has a good selection of food to tempt you. Even on a Tuesday night the place was rammed, so booking a table is highly recommended.

“Keep coming back”

The good old "kro mad" (Inn Food) is splendid here. Hodde kro' signature serving must be the huge wienerschnitzel or as it also known the elephant ear - due to the size of the schnitzel. The good old "kro mad" (Inn Food) is splendid here. Hodde kro' signature serving must be the huge wienerschnitzel or as it also known the elephant ear - due to the size of the schnitzel. The portions are very generous no matter what you chose. Should you have room for it I can recommend their Tarteletter which are absolutely nice. Have a go at the Warvick beers - not bad at all. Will we be back ? Yes of course we will.

“Step back in time and enjoy a typically Danish inn”

We visited with Danish friends and family, who promised us something exceptional. They were not wrong. A beautiful old-fashioned inn, looking very much as it might have done 100 years ago. Our friends had booked in advance, which was a good thing as all of the tables were reserved, which is always a good sign. Likewise, despite this inn being located in a small village in darkest West Jutland, the car park was almost full. Why had so many people made their way to such an out of the way location? The reasons soon became clear. A welcoming atmosphere, friendly host and staff and a menu featuring good solid Danish dishes, served just as they have been for years. If you like small tasty morsels of fancy French food served on funky crockery, don't go to Hodde Kro! The portions were huge. Enormous. The wiener schnitzel is nicknamed an 'Elephant's Ear' which is an apt description of the largest schnitzel by far that I have ever seen. The minced beef burger with bearnaise sauce similarly large. Steaks were big, juicy and perfectly cooked. We made the mistake of ordering a starter as well, so none of our party managed to finish their main courses and we had to completely miss the tempting desserts. All in all, a great experience and one we will definitely repeat, but I'll probably not eat for a week beforehand to work up an appetite. Finally, the bill. Starters and main course for 4 adults and a child. Including wine, beer and a soft drink. Less than Kr 900 (or a little under £90). That is about £20 a head, for an excellent meal in charming, friendly surroundings. Unbelievably good!
