Family run, personal service, ambitious restaurant with excellent half board option. Plentry of sun chairs even at peak times around the always clean pool and jacuzzi. Nice view to the beautiful lake and surrounding alps. Really nice hiking and biking opportunities both nearby and in short driving distance for the more alpine terrain. All staff members very friendly treating you like a cherished family member.

We were in a side/mountain-facing room on the top floor that was super spacious (two TVs and sitting areas, with room-long balcony) and comfortable. The bed was massive and comfortable, the bathroom clean and stylish, and the view from the seating on the balcony was sublime. The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was good quality and couldn’t be in a greater setting on the lake. Overall, the location is perfect, the hotel super comfortable and the treatment was top notch. Would love to stay again!

What an amazing immaculate place. My husband and I loved everything about Le Cottage. This is the kind of luxury that I love, it's subtle, unpretentious, and absolute perfection. And that view! So unique. Staff is so efficient yet friendly, breakfasts are sublime, dinner is a must. This place is a treasure. We were celebrating our anniversary and they remembered, often not the case in establishments these days. One of the best places we stayed in our 3 month tour of this part of France.

Firstly, I would like to say that I always try to give a totally measured review of every place that I visit so it might be of help to future visitors. I have left this two weeks after our return home. My husband and I booked a room with a lake/partial lake view at Le Cottage Bise and stipulated a walk in shower due to my knee replacement - we do this wherever we book as a shower over the bath is very difficult for me. When we arrived we were taken to a ‘cottage’ in the grounds which looked lovely until we saw there were over 30 steps up to our room - I managed during the week but I had not expected this. It could prove very difficult for people and I would certainly recommend checking prior to staying there. There isn’t a lift! The room was, what I would describe, as ‘poky’ but had a lake view. However, I insisted on looking at the bathroom before the receptionist left (don’t think she wanted me to in hindsight) and I wasn’t happy. There was no walk in shower as stipulated. The bath was deep and the shower screen securely fixed making it extremely difficult for me -:she had a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude. I had 3 showers in 7 days as I found it very stressful (not a nice feeling!). Do they not realise that with hip or knee replacements this is dangerous???!!! The bath was far too deep to get out of so bathing was a non starter. She tried to blame it on Inghams Travel (so she got in touch with them straight away!) as we received a text within a couple of hours from them. We have used Inghams Travel regularly through a travel agent in our town because of the bathroom requirements and have always been happy with their arrangements so the receptionist certainly knew of our worries but it was attitude I wasn’t happy with. We just said we’d get on with it but it wasn’t a good start. I have to say she wasn’t very friendly during our week at Le Cottage Bise. I actually thought the next morning she might just have asked me if I was ok but she ignored me on leaving the key. Not a good feeling. The bathroom was not ventilated!!! The WC was separate within the bathroom and was tiny. The wardrobe was very cheap and the hooks within it were fixed the wrong way (and half were broken) - really annoying over the week. We were very unlucky with the weather during our stay but did have a couple of good days where we could sit out in the grounds. We have 2 lovely lunches and when it was wet we sat in the bar and had snacks. Didn’t try the pool but it looked lovely. There is nowhere to sit in the hotel- the website shows a lounge but it seems to have disappeared so if you have bad weather you are confined to your poky room. Food - well we were rather disappointed! So very surprised as we were so looking forward to French cuisine!!! We had stayed at a similar hotel in Austria 8 weeks prior to Annecy it but Austria won hands down! We felt it was tasteless at times (2 other couples agreed!) and so little salad and vegetables. One evening the pork I was served was so awful I actually needed up eating more bread and cheese than meal!! I left most of it and the waiter asked me if I didn’t like it but no one came to see what the problem was. The lamb served on another evening was also completely tasteless! The best meal we had was the starter of mushroom risotto which was delicious as were the lunches. The restaurant staff and bar staff were extremely nice and friendly. Cleaning staff very good and very friendly. Breakfasts were very nice but once seated and coffee order take we were left to get in with it. We only discovered the boiled egg machine by accident and saw someone having an omelette but weren’t told you could have it. When I ordered one I was left to think I was a nuisance. Breakfast is 7.00-10.00am- it’s not good at 9.45am to have staff changing table cloths in front of you as though you’re a nuisance. We had to leave the hotel at 6.45am for an early flight home - many times at previous hotels we have been given a small ‘picnic’ breakfast - but no mention of it here. I would definitely recommend taking a travel kettle here - there’s Huit a Huit supermarket up the hill to get milk etc and there are 2mlovely cafes up the road to get a tasty lunch. Outside our cottage there is decking and twice that week there were evening drinks parties with music. Yes, they finished by 10.00pm as there was torrential rain and gales but what is it like during the summer? We could close the windows but in the hot summer you could be very disturbed by the noise and it was really a lot of noise. I feel as though I’ve constantly moaned during this review but I’m sorry to say we were underwhelmed. We paid exactly the same amount of money for our superb Austrian holiday and this was well below par. One other guest, who was expressing her disappointment, said she’d stayed at a 3* hotel at another lake in the region earlier in the year and it surpassed everything at Le Cottage Bise which surprised her. So, I’m very sorry- perhaps the weather didn’t help - but we would never wish to return.
