“Good accommodation but disturbed night”

I stayed here for one night, while travelling south. The room was in fact an apartment with separate lounge, kitchen, bathroom and lavatory. It was very well furnished. the location is also good, being just over the French border from Geneva, and as a result the price was much more reasonable. But, and I don't know what the cause was, there was repeated noise during the night, seeming to come from the apartment above, as if someone was operating machinery. It was enough to prevent a good night's sleep. In addition, at about 3 in the morning, there was a constant sound of water trickling through the pipework. Initially I thought it was the cistern in my accommodation but it seemed to be coming from above. I actually made a recording of it because it was so insistent, and was going to play it to the staff the next morning. In the end, I had to move from the bedroom to the sofa in the lounge to get back to sleep. When I went to hand back my room key in the morning, the woman on the reception desk did not bother to ask how my stay had been. So I decided to write it off to experience and just leave. The accommodation was good and well-priced, and perhaps I was just unlucky.
