“Worth the wait”

We attempted to eat here twice before managing to get a table. Kept showing up too late in the day, too early or on their ruhetag. Definitely worth the wait though. We attempted to eat here twice before managing to get a table. Kept showing up too late in the day, too early or on their ruhetag. Definitely worth the wait though. Food was great and the staff were kind and patient while we practiced our German. We really enjoyed the goulash, schnitzel paniert and the rahmsoße. The upstairs portion of the restaurant is smoke free. Would go again :)

“Basic and comfortable ”

Overall nice and clean. Good restaurants but the downstairs pub is smoke filled = yucky. Food is very good with giant proportions. Problems = no lift, many stairs, no soap or shampoo provided. “Average Visit”

I visited the building because we were lost and they gave us shelter from the tsunami. However we were soaked, saturated, drenched, waterlogged, wet, submerged, and flooded. I visited the building because we were lost and they gave us shelter from the tsunami. However we were soaked, saturated, drenched, waterlogged, wet, submerged, and flooded. We asked the manager where we could find dry clothing as everything in our suitcase was wet and the only place she told us was the hotel store which sold clothes at the minimum price of 35000 euros. We purchased them as we were confused by the Euro to Canadian dollar to American dollar to yen ratio. It was a very unfortunate experience and we hope no one else has this experience

This hotel is situated in a beautiful location with beautiful surroundings. The area of Lahr where the hotel is itself is very quiet but the hotel is only a few minutes walk from shops and pubs. I stayed in the hotel with a large group for 4 nights and the rooms are very well equipped. The room and the hotel as a whole was very clean. The hotel have European style beds which mean that you sleep on a double bed frame with 2 single mattresses- that is not a problem for me. I found that bed very very comfortable however the room could become stuffy at night. There is also a television in the room however we found that the signal wasn't brilliant and the picture cracked up a lot (but we weren't really there to watch tv anyway). The rooms are quite out-dated however it fits in with the style of a very classic hotel. The en-suite bathroom was good, the shower was easy to work and adjust to the temperature and the hotel provided fresh towels daily. The door handle on the bathroom door however came off into my hand on several occasions, but it was no urgent danger. The food in the hotel was ok, it began to become very repetitive, the starter was always a soup (which tasted quite nice) but it was always the same creamy colour with a slightly different taste. The hotel then provided salad and the dinner was generally some kind of chicken or pork with chips, rice or pasta- no vegetables (but then again, there was the salad). There was also always a desert of ice cream or fruit yogurt etc... The breakfast was a buffet of rolls, cold meats, cheese, yogurt and cereal and one morning there were boiled eggs. Lunch was also provided by the hotel to take away, rolls, meat, apples..... The food was good for the standard of the hotel and was all well cooked. The hotel is close to many attractions and also close to the German border to France, it is a great place to stay for a holiday for travelling around the area. It is an extremely quaint hotel and is definitely a satisfying experience.
