Superb stay at this hotel. Room was extremely comfortable, clean and with a great view. Staff were friendly and food was absolutely superb. We usually eat out in the evening but stayed in most nights instead to eat. The hotel is in a location where it’s possible to start many walks. All are well signposted. Overall, excellent value for money.

“We loved this place”

The view alone from our room or from the patio deck is enough of a reason to stay here! I had not made reservations in the Garmisch or Mittenwald area until the last minute and then was limited to only a few hotels as there was a weekend event in Garmisch. The view alone from our room or from the patio deck is enough of a reason to stay here! I had not made reservations in the Garmisch or Mittenwald area until the last minute and then was limited to only a few hotels as there was a weekend event in Garmisch. It was our luck to have found this hotel which is on the outskirts of the town of Mittenwald. We stayed for two nights and were delighted by the staff and the place. When we checked in, Sylvia, who I believe was the manager, was the one who was working at the time. She went out of her way to provide all types of information both about the hotel and the events/sites in the area. She was so pleasant and helpful, she set the tone for our experience there. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and appointed with little items that fit perfectly with the room/hotel decor. Sitting on our balcony overlooking the rolling hills, hearing the cow bells, with the Alps in the background was pure heaven. We ate very good meals at dinner both nights and Chris was our waiter on both occasions, he was excellent. The breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of items and freshly made breads and jams. The town of Mittenwald is easily reached by walking (10 minutes downhill and a bit longer coming back uphill!) and it was charming. In some ways, it felt a bit like a step back in time both in the town and at the hotel which added to the charm and enjoyment of our stay. We both felt it was a special place and hope to be able to return one day. Highly recommended!

“Warm hospitality to ease winter cold”

We can’t wait to return to Bavaria if it’s only to once again enjoy time at this wonderful establishment. Arriving in the evening hours, we had difficulty finding a parking spot. We later figured out many of the hotel’s restaurant patrons weren’t staying at the hotel and we soon understood why: dinner was fantastic. The deer stew and pork schnitzel were impeccable, only surpassed by the apple strudel which was worthy of a last meal. The following morning, we had to depart rather early and were not able to enjoy breakfast. The manager on duty went out of her way to make sure we didn’t leave on an empty stomach and had the kitchen staff provide some fresh coffee and bread for us. It was heaven sent given it was below freezing temperatures that morning. The views of Mittenwald at dawn were spectacular and we’re sure to return but absolutely going to stay at Grobl Alm once again.
