“Very basic, but clean.”

Nothing special, but was fine for a 2 night stay on business. Less than an hour drive from expo center in Hannover. Room was very basic, had a small single bed, but it was clean. Nothing special, but was fine for a 2 night stay on business. Less than an hour drive from expo center in Hannover. Room was very basic, had a small single bed, but it was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast layout was modest but entirely adequate ( included eggs, bacon, choice of coffee, teas...). Simple, no frills, clean place to stay for a night or two.

Generally a nice friendly place. Clearly a family run hotel perfect for contractors. The good. Exceptionally friendly. All the staff encountered treated us with the utmost friendliness and nothing was too much trouble. Good food. The hotel provides a great continental breakfast including a range of breads and rolls accompanied by various meats and cheeses. Also on offer were yoghurts, fruits, juices and a hot selection of boiled eggs, scrambled egg and bacon. Cheep (I'm guessing) My impression is that the hotel was relatively cheep, lacking the finesse of a more modern hotel, but as it was being paid for by the company I was working for I can not confirm this. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town and is only a 5 minute walk to the middle of Salzgitter-Bad where a range of restaurants and bars can be found. The bad. I was somewhat shocked to find that in 2015, this hotel still allowed smoking inside. For a party of non smokers this came as somewhat of a shock especially as it was not even segregated from the public space. To get to our no-smoking room you literally have to pas through a cloud of stale smoke on the first floor landing. The area smelled like an ash tray and despite a sound glass door the smell permeated though into the corridor outside the rooms. The hotel was, without doubt, dated. I'm guessing it was fitted out in the late 70's or early 80's and hadn't been updated since then. Although the decor was clearly out of date the rooms were comfortable and clean. Again the bathroom was dated and the fittings were old. The grout was grubby with ingrained dirt as you would expect from such an old installation, but everything was clean.
