“Great place”

I live up the road from this place, have been there loads of time for food and a quiet beer. The food is great and the warm and friendly atmosphere is second to none. Am looking forward to Christmas again when the goose is on the menu 👍 Great place and brilliant staff

“Very nice traditional stop in rural Germany”

The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff very friendly and were great with English. It’s a little off the beaten path but the area is nice. The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff very friendly and were great with English. It’s a little off the beaten path but the area is nice. The hotel has a nice outside area and the evening meal was good (perhaps a little expensive depending on your point of view). Breakfast in the conservatory with all you need to start the day. The hotel takes card - I mention it because Germany is a little behind in accepting hard-cash alternatives. Business or short stays perfect - probably not a long stay destination though.

“Great place & location”

Stayed here for 2 nights. Spacious, clean and modern rooms. Staff super and breakfast very good. Location perfect and our dog enjoyed the park, as well as the lake scenery. Could not swim in lake, I presume due to algae. But worth a visit, beautiful place.

We visited the Landhaus Schieder for their famous cooking course, which you can book through MyDays. It is really in the middle of nowhere, so we would have hardly come across it otherwise. Nevertheless, the location is charming. There are big parks, a small castle and a mill, which are just a stroll away. In our booking were included: a meal on arrival (Friday night), 2 overnights with breakfast, a trip to a big food store for shopping on Saturday morning, cooking course in the hotel kitchen in the afternoon, being served our self-prepared meal in the evening. We were 5 couples attending the course. On arrival, we had a very friendly welcome, and discovered our room, which was very big, confortable and had a country-house feel. We then went down to the restaurant for our 'Lippische' (regional) dinner. This, I must say, was the only disappointing part of the week-end: somehow it felt that they had to save somewhere. Starter and dessert were good (although nothing exceptional). As main course we were offered brochettes (choice of turkey, fish or mushrooms) with rosemary potatoes and season vegetables. We chose 1 turkey and 1 fish: both very very dry, and this came with a strange mustard potato mash and some peppers... oh well. Seen what the kitchen of the restaurant really can produce, I would suggest, if you arrive on Friday night, to book it separately and eat à-la-carte. After a good night sleep, and a substantial breakfast, we met the other couples and the hotel owner took us with a minibus to this large market. On the way, he gave us some additional information on the region. The shopping trip was very interesting, as we got a lot of details in terms of how to shop for a restaurant kitchen, what is bought fresh, what not, quantities etc... After heading back, we had time for a stroll, then started cooking around 14:30. The menu we put together and executed was delicious. The cooks were very professional. A small minus point was that we were probably too many people for the task at hand, and if you weren't a bit 'pushy' and taking the initiative you weren't cooking that much (I'm not pushy due to my lack of confidence with the language). But OK, you could just as well look at every dish being prepared and listen to all the explanations. We then went to the dining room and had a delicious 5-courses meal! We also noticed that what we cooked was also served as a 'special' to other restaurant / hotel guests!!! Something to be proud of! We were then presented with a recipe book (icluding photos of us!) and had a lovely evening with the other participants sampling some great wines and schnapps (hic!) after which we happily dropped into bed. All together an highly recommended experience!
