Spent six nights here as part of a coaching holiday to Rhine and Moselle area. The hotel is deceptively larger than it appears and occupies a prime position on the bank of the Rhine although I do not believe many rooms actually have a river view. The rooms themselves appear to vary in size a great deal - we had to request a switch from our originally allocated room (no. 30) as it was far too cramped for twin occupancy. The replacement was much better but do not expect anything other than 'dining type' chairs. The TV had a variety of channels - none English language and the only really comfortable way to watch was lying on ones bed. Chambermaid service appeared to consist of making the beds with little other visible evidence apparent - towels not 're-arranged' etc. That said, it was kept clean and we had no complaints. Both breakfast and evening meals were buffet style with the exception of soup being brought to your table in the evening. Food standard was very good with a reasonable choice for mains etc and a selection of items for side salads was always available. Desserts were unimaginative, generally a mousse type offering. No water was provided at evening meals. Breakfast selection was good but withe exception of the boiled eggs, no hot items were available. Good selection of breads (toaster available if required), hams, cold meats and cheeses plus a couple of 'salad' items (tomato and cucumber mainly). - no danish pastries or croissants. Water and juices on offer plus coffee flasks on each table. Tea, if preferred, also available. We found all staff to be friendly and approachable and, from our own experience, dealt with any issues arising well. This hotel seems to have three dining areas but no real lounge. There is a bar area which is quite small (20 or so persons would make it crowded). Accordingly drinks were consumed at dining tables. Osterspai is a fairly small 'village' - so, without your own transport, options for going out exploring are limited. There is a train station quite close to the hotel so getting to Koblenz is possible.

This hotel is on the bank of the Rhine a short distance from Koblenz. It is quintessentially European in design and layout. The rooms are basic but relatively comfortable. However we were disappointed with the evening dinners. There was only soup on offer for starters. The first evening bread rolls were brought out but only when requested and after most people had already finished the soup. On the second evening sliced bread was available. The main course had a choice of two meat dishes with vegetables or salad. The vegetables left a lot to be desired. The meats weren’t explained in English so it was difficult to know what they were. Finally the dessert was just a bowl of Angel Delight/ liquid mousse. The continental breakfasts by contrast were very good. The bar in the hotel only seated about 30 people. There were 38 on our coach and a coach from a different company staying too, as well as other guests. We were therefore obliged to sit in the dining room all evening. I really wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
