The hotel is comfortably situated near the beach but not to far from the center. You can take a bus from/ to the harbor which is free of charge for the hotel guests. The rooms are spacious clean and need. The only thing missing was air conditioning and a fridge. Tasty breakfast with enough choice (also fruit). The staff was wonderful and very helpful and I recommend a relaxing massage in the wellness center.

Reading the reviews over the last years, there is not much to add. What's confusing though is that some reviews are a few years old and you still experience issues reported by than. But let's start from the beginning...Vlieland is what you would call a perfect setting for your North Sea vacation. A small island with huge beaches, clean and a pretty little village. Like a fairytale setting. During the season it is probably a bit crowded but now in September it was ok. The Seeduyn hotel is located stunningly right at the beach. Spacy, clean rooms, which are nicely decorated - suited to its maritime setting. The hotels facilities are functional and the distance to the sea is just wow. If you don't like to walk to the village in the evening, there is a restaurant which is really good. A warm french Brasserie with a small, but nice menu. The staff at the restaurant is fantastic. A young, friendly and funny team. However, what is really missing is a consistent way to communicate and inform guests. It starts with the booking on the website, where no detailed information about the transportation are explained. Luggage to and from the hotel is actually well organized, it's just not easy to learn how to apply. Traveling with a dog is nicely arranged, but no one tells you that all facilities are offered locally and you don't need to bring a dog bed etc. There are many of those examples and many are mentioned in the reviews over the past years, but apparently nothing has changed. The communication with the reception is not very helpful, the response to emails limited to very little information. Sometimes one has the impression that there is a lack of leadership in this hotel, also by the fact that for years there are no responses by the management anymore to reviews and comments at Tripadvisor. Overall the standard and the location is still a good experience.

“Good place for family holiday ”

Nice place for a family holiday. We had a family room which had 2 bedrooms and a small living. The rooms were a bit oudated, but clean and quite nice. Breakfast was good and also the dinner in the adjecent beach club was good. Great place for a family holiday.

We stayed at WestCord Strandhotel Seeduyn in July 2023, as a family of 4 (two adults, two pre-teen/teenage kids). First, the pros: The hotel is in a great location on Vlieland, located directly on a gorgeous stretch of beach. It's easy to get to, as you can use the island bus for free during your stay (by showing your hotel card). Breakfast was pretty good, food was fresh and tasted great (especially the croissants!!), though after a week there wasn't enough variety and the buffet got boring. We ate at the Brassery restaurant two evenings, and the food there was also very nice. Most of the staff were very pleasant, though during check-in we did not receive any information about amenities, as there was a line of people who arrived on the bus at the same time as us, and the front desk staff seemed to just want us all processed as quickly as they could. There's a ton of activities for everyone, both at the hotel, as well as the surroundings. Kids club, bowling, swimming pool, wellness center, tennis, beach activities, the list goes on. We were unlucky with the weather, so it was nice to have options to keep our kids occupied. Now for the cons: Our hotel room was not great, especially for the price we paid. We were in one of the "Medium" apartments, which are located in the auxiliary building (next to the main hotel building, and connected with an underground tunnel). The room was smelly due to the poor ventilation (it honestly smelled like cat/dog urine on the carpet), and the kitchen was not super clean (drawers & fridge had some bits of food/crumbs in them). Bedrooms were stuffy, as there are no windows to the outside (see above ventilation issue), and beds were not particularly comfortable. We found we immediately had to open the living room windows every time we entered just to make the apartment tolerable. They say on their website that we get a discount at a local bicycle rental on the island, so we proceeded to make a reservation directly with the shop. What the WestCord website doesn't tell you is that you need to call/directly contact the hotel and have them reserve on your behalf if you want to get this discount. Notes specific for the apartments: There is no room cleaning done during your stay. They will come in and change towels occasionally (every two days or so?), and no trash removal or anything else will be done until after you leave. As others have said, there's a pretty good selection of kitchen utensils/dishes, but absolutely no extras (salt/pepper, spices, oil, coffee/tea, etc.) for cooking, so plan accordingly. It also wasn't clear what to do with the trash (we were there 1 week, and it wasn't collected, so we weren't quite sure how to sort or where to put it). TLDR: This feels like a 3* hotel in quality for 5* prices (especially during summer/peak season). It's fine for what it is, but you'd likely be better off renting a house in the dunes next door for the price, if you're looking at their apartments. They're fine, but I don't expect us to return. WestCord management, it would be nice to have more information on your website regarding room details (apartment vs. hotel room differences, more room photos).

Positive points: - Location: only few steps away from the beautiful beach - Big room with balcony - Baggage transfer and free bus ride from/to the ferry are well-organized - Flexible in check-out time - Cleanliness and cleaning of room were fine Negative points: - Service is not really up to 4 star standards. Guests have to check thinks for themselves, you do not really feel pampered or that you get personal service, more that you get „processed“ -It is a very big hotel. In non-corona times suitable for conferences and the like. For a holiday hotel, it lacks some charm/the holiday vibe/the personal touch - Due to covid measures, breakfast and dinner were on take-away basis. If you are located in the side building you have to carry the food all the way through an underground tunnel to the other side and climb stairs/open your room door while balancing the tray. That can be tricky/inconvenient and does not give you a 4 star hotel feeling. This could be organized in a more guest friendly way (arranging a pickup location in the side building/delivering the trays to the doorstep of the rooms or something like that) - No bathrobes and slippers in the room Overall, and for the price/quality experienced I rate the hotel 3 points.
