We’ve just returned from a lovely relaxing week at the Riu Tikida Dunas and overall would definitely recommend it. The room was very large and spacious, with plenty of room to properly unpack and relax. The staff throughout the hotel were great, especially the lobby bar staff who were always friendly, attentive and made the evenings really enjoyable. There were plenty of sun loungers available around the pools, although they did get snapped up very quickly in the mornings. It was frustrating that some people were putting towels down by 8am and then not actually using the loungers until late afternoon. Food was what you’d expect from a typical all inclusive buffet — plenty of choice, although it did become a bit repetitive after a week. One slight downside was that whenever meat or fish was being freshly carved/served, the portions were very small (and I’m not a particularly big eater!). In the evenings, staff would pour your wine and water, but they didn’t really keep an eye out for refills once seated. Tables also weren’t always cleared and reset very quickly during busy periods. We tried both speciality restaurants and enjoyed them, although both were still buffet style. The Moroccan restaurant in particular felt a little rushed, with glasses being cleared while we were still sitting there and we were finished within about an hour. Overall though, we had a really lovely week and it was exactly the relaxing break we wanted. Great staff, comfortable rooms and a lovely atmosphere — we would happily return.

Sadly a very dated and worn out hotel surrounded by a lush and beautiful gardens. Very peaceful and tranquil. Expected this Rui hotel to be the same high standards as previous stayed Rui hotels, but sadly it wasn’t. Not much authentic Moroccan influences in this hotel and sadly this had been cascaded to the food and drinks. Our mini bar in the room consisted of three bottles of water, NO soft drinks or local beers, as a mini bar would be expected to have. No personal facilities available such as an iron, and the AC did not function well. Rooms not suitable for family as the sofa bed was EXTREMELY hard and very small, with a concrete headboard. Was very mindful of not knocking my head when I moved in the bed. Extremely uncomfortable. I think what was most alarming was the safety of the room that we stayed in. The patio doors did not close properly and on our balcony, there was a gate which was not bolted up securely and which allowed anyone in the room next door, to walk onto our balcony and essentially come into our room. The balcony doors are not securely lock and we had to place a chair every time that we vacated our room and especially at night, as we didn’t feel very safe as three women in a room. This was extremely dangerous and I did feel quite nervous returning back to our rooms. This was raised with reception, together with the AC issues, acquiring an iron and the mini bar, however this fell on deaf ears and it felt that we were “bothering them”. Not all of the reception staff were rude, but the majority were. The food was below standards. Felt like the chef ran out of ideas and decided to throw everything to hand into making a meal. It was tasteless, very unappetising and bland. The staff in the restaurant did try to keep up the pressure of the hordes of guests wanting food, but with food being overcooked, burnt and so hard to eat, it was edible, they were failing. I noted that quite a few guests took to eating outside and that included lunch. Breakfast was good, organised and lots of variety, with lots of servers bustling around to help you, which of course all goes towards you giving them a tip!!! We travelled with TUI and unfortunately arrived late due to a passenger being unwell. No hot food was laid out for us despite being told that we could go to the restaurant. However this closed at 10pm. For someone who has medical conditions travelling with a 88 year old person, this was very disappointing to hear. The hotel just provided a cold salad. No hot drinks. Therefore, our first night consisted of tea and chocolate biscuits which we brought with us. When I had informed our TUI rep about this, his response was “this happens all the time”! I said that perhaps contingency plans need to be put forward, especially if there are guests who have medical conditions and need to eat. The TUI rep did not seemed bothered with my suggestions. He was not even aware that the plane was delayed and that the TUI passengers had arrived late. A Poor lack of communication between the UK Tui to Moroccan TUI reps. The entertainment staff are warm and bubbly. They made the holiday; from the very small to the elderly, they really made you feel special. In particular a HIGE shoutout to Haytam and Zakaria. However, all the entertainment staff spoke English well and are very talented. However, the theme nights could have more of a modern twist and perhaps commence earlier than 9:15pm. All in all, this hotel has a lot of potential and I have no doubt that in earlier years, this was a bright and modern establishment. However, the years have gone by and it is in real need of renovation and re modernisation. Please bring into this hotel the Moroccan culture and with it, the cuisine. We flew over to experience this, and sadly received a more European type of memory. Retraining of front staff would be good and reviewing the entertainment, together with addressing the safety of certain rooms, including working phones in rooms and providing personal facilities in the rooms. A lovely hotel but attention to details is certainly needed.
