“Enjoyable option near Shanghai, lil bit dated and food just ok”

-Heard from different friends with children about this place and we decided to try it. -Check in: nice, smooth, not much waiting. -Room: we got room 4608 . Large space, nice bath, felt a lil bit dated. Will try next time the themed rooms, like galaxy or other child friendly , more modern options -Good/very good: breakfast buffet. The minifarm was fun for the children. the indoor playpark in the lobby resort 2f is superb. children absolutely love it, very spacious. -So so: lunch/dinner food, both in the Chinese (the a la carte)and specially the Western option, where the pizza was super greasy. -not ok: the speed at which many, not all, of the employee drivers cruise around the resort in the mini buses. Sometimes, most of the times, the speed at which they drove was well over 40km/h whereas the limit is 20. we did not like it and we believe they should all be retrained. what's the rush when driving in such a family holiday resort?! Highlight: Mr. Leon Zhou, from the concierge/check in team who spoke English. Helped us with internal transport arranging, clarified any questions, etc. Super nice!

Located about half an hour away from Chu Chia Jia , an interesting ancient town popular for Chinese dumpling and large variety of snacks.The bus station just outside the resort costs only one RMB and it passes through a few villages where it picks up local villagers to town for marketing etc. It is interesting way to gauge the daily lives of the farming community in this part of China. From Chu Chia Jia you can take another bus to Shanghai. It costs only 12 RMB and takes about an hour where you can see the surrounding scenery. You can also choose to take a train to Shanghai if you want a faster ride. From Shanghai you can explore the city and you are connected to most parts of China by High Speed Rail. We were in SunIsland Resort during winter. During summer time this resort which spread over many acres has many activities for family and kids. It is a good friendly resort with many villas which are very well equipped and serviced. There is shutter bus to ferry you to and from the lobby and your villas as it is spread over a wide areas . Overall it is a good base to explore the many ancient towns and villages as well as the cosmopolitan Shanghai and other parts of China.

The resort was lovely and spacious. The rooms and accommodation were clean. For Shanghai it is large. The amenities were excellent. I enjoyed the large indoor swimming pool. The place appears more designed for local Shanghai people to get away for a large spacious resort with all amenities and not having to leave to have a relaxing time. The food services were a bit limited but you can go outside the resort for a couple of eating places. It is a bit far from the main part of Shanghai. We would catch a local bus for 1 yuen to the metro station at Zhujiajiao and then catch a train to the main part of Shanghai. All up it would take us 2 hours to get there. Although I enjoyed catching the public transport feeling like a local the fours travelling there and back was time consuming. The town on Zhujiajiao was lovely and we went there to eat at the local restaurants. It was a short and cheap bus ride there. Being more for locals English was limited. However Elaine who spoke English well was always available to assist even when she was not working. Thank you Elaine.

Stunning little place set quite a distance from Shanghai Downtown but it was not a major issue . . Unfortunately for us due to the "Beautification" of the area the main road to the resort has been destroyed so makes for very slow bumpy going . . There is plan to start the repair in July and it is expected to take 12 months however looking at the ingenuity of the Chinese people I expect it will be done a lot quicker. We traveled regular via Taxi to Shanghai and the journey typically took an hour and cost around 240 RMB. There are three restaurants on site . . One caters for Breakfast doing both western and Chinese dishes and at 75 RMB per head for all you can eat we thought was brilliant, the food was always fresh and tasted great, The other two restaurants catered for your evening meals, One was a buffet menu and although expensive the food was good but our favourite was the Chinese restaurant which was stunning, Great food and reasonably priced too. . We had a two bedroom apartment which was equipped enough for us and very comfortable. There is a very little shop on site but to be honest the price in the restaurants kept us happy, Unfortunately for us we were out of season so the main pool was unavailable but the rest of the site was operational however we did feel like it was only us there at times . .The Staff are great too . . There seemed to be three levels of communication . . Those who spoke and understood next to no English, Those who spoke some English but struggled to understand the reply and those who spoke and understood pretty well. It never mattered as no matter what mess I got into we got there in the end. In the same way I tried to Learn a bit of Chinese the staff also tried hard to learn too. . Top team all round.
