Day 1 Check In was easy and quick. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in the self-catering Accommodation is lovely and spacious. Place is clean. There is everything you need in the kitchen. There is lots and lots of stairs inside so if you have leg issues or vision problems maybe ask for a disabled-friendly room. The lighting is very dim. A porter helped us with our luggage (I did see other reviews saying that there was no one to help with luggage). Saw some Zebra Roaming Around The timeshare tea at 3 was a waste of time. From the spreads that other resorts cater for, I was shocked with their tea. Was basically a plate of sugar donuts. We got back after dinner and the temperature started dropping. There was no wood for the fireplace. Not even electric blankets or extra blankets. Housekeeping brought us very quickly after calling them. We used the heater in the room. Warmed up quickly. Hotel dinners was delicious. Service for the lunch at the restaurant was terrible Overall a good holiday.

As airline crew I get to stay in a lot of hotels around the world but always love coming home to South Africa Hotel Still has its beautiful charm cozy feel and just the way I remember it from past visits Staff amazing warm friendly and cannot do enough for you a big plus Rooms really showing there age but still comfortable and cozy ( but a big thank you for giving the upgraded room ) my partner she loved it Food this is the big big let down, my family kept on promoting to my partner ( her first visit to South Africa ) about the dinner buffet and how good it was and the options that are on offer but what a let down on the having the buffet 2 nights in row, from only one meat offering there should be at least 2, the very very very limited hot food options and not so good deserts, I don’t know if the hotel attitude is well we have majority tourist they stay one night and they don’t really care and just feed them this, my advice and my partner agreed don’t take the full board option just take the bed and breakfast option and there is plenty of options in the area with a drive for dinner Breakfast was okay basic a few more options would be welcome but it tick the box

“Week away at chalets...not that easy this time around”

I recently moved my timeshare week from the Breakers in Umhlanga to the Drakensburg chalets and apartments. I do see renovations to the unit week I purchased already. I recently moved my timeshare week from the Breakers in Umhlanga to the Drakensburg chalets and apartments. I do see renovations to the unit week I purchased already. There has to be some way to assist guests, or allow golf carts to be hired during the week stay at chalets. The stairs in the apartments almost 20 on 4 split levels. But access in and out the chalets are very very difficult and as we have reached our ages of 66 and 67 im beginning to think I made a huge mistake by stopping. My stay at chalet 113 was not without the drama of 5 whole days of tripping of the switches until after 5th day the stove was finally replaced. The chalet areas are good for families but I think the safety of the stairs and other features need to change. We did go out to main hotel for suppers and to meet my daughter who booked her stay in the hotel. Our way back to our rooms via the 20 odd stairs at night was harrowing due to poor lighting. Im certain that management will look into proper renovations for until then I will not be able to book the chalets again at our ages. No parking ir access to yiur vehicle it has to remain in far designated parking areas and you cannot walk at night without torch due to.long winding stairs. Lighting at night
