For a girls’ trip, my Mum and five of her friends, choose to stay at Azul Beach Resort Negril and while the property itself has room for improvement, the staff truly made our trip memorable. From the moment we arrived, Shamar greeting us with cold towels and a welcome cocktail after our transfer was such a thoughtful and welcomed touch. It immediately set a warm tone for the vacation. The resort itself feels more like a 3.5–4 star property rather than a true 5-star experience at the moment. Some areas could definitely use upgrades, although I did notice maintenance staff actively painting buildings and other team members cleaning the swim-up bar pools during our stay, which was appreciated. One recommendation would be to skim the pools more frequently for bugs and debris. There were also inconsistencies with room towels - some were soft and newer while others were stained and quite worn. We also experienced dirty napkins at dinner in Ackee one evening. That said, the service across most of the resort was excellent. Sashay at the Front Desk was incredibly accommodating with my Mum and Aunt’s many requests and handled everything with patience, grace, and professionalism. Calmore was always kind, helpful with our bags, and happy to answer questions whenever we saw him around the property. Shannoy at Ackee Restaurant was such a sweetheart and very efficient during both our first and last nights at the resort. Q at the Hua Hin restaurant was also wonderful - despite being visibly busy, he remained attentive, professional, and kind throughout our meal. Tasscina and Tashonda in Mahogany Hall quickly became our favourite servers. We intentionally sat in their section because they always remembered our drinks and consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The entertainment staff, especially Dejonay and Jada, were energetic and engaging, always encouraging guests to join activities and games. Rayon also deserves a special mention because Aquafit with him was no joke - definitely a workout! On the beach, Dave and Kadian were excellent and friendly throughout the trip, while JJ and Michael were the kind of observant, professional lifeguards that genuinely made us feel safe. A huge shoutout also goes to Damaine and Travis at the West End Pool swim-up bar. They honestly helped make the trip for us with their friendliness, efficiency, and great energy. My only note there would be the music - it constantly cut out and didn’t really match the vibe of being on vacation in Jamaica. Andrew in Palms also stood out to us. Even though we weren’t dining there, he still brought us water, went to the bar to get me a Prosecco, and encouraged us to check on our reservation at Di Romagna. Unfortunately, that experience was disappointing. We had initially been told the wait would be about an hour, but when we later checked back, Venicia informed us that the reservation device we had been given wasn’t even working and that a table had actually been available. Her dismissive attitude when we first arrived, combined with the lack of concern about the malfunctioning device, left a poor impression and we chose not to return to that restaurant for the remainder of our stay. That said, we genuinely didn’t have a bad meal the entire trip - including the jerk chicken on the beach (cue drooling). The service across most of the resort was excellent. Finally, Dean absolutely saved me from paying overweight baggage fees on departure day. Not only did he retrieve our bags from the room, but he also accompanied me to the gym so we could weigh them properly before leaving for the airport - above and beyond service that was deeply appreciated. Overall, while the property itself could benefit from some upgrades and more consistent upkeep, the people working at this resort are what made the experience worthwhile. Their warmth, professionalism, and hospitality were the highlight of our stay.

I spent time at Azul from May 4-11, 2026 with my daughter and 4 friends. Azul is approximately 2 hours away from Montego Bay airport by vacation package bus but 1.25 by private transportation. I arrived and was greeted with a cold towel and drink to start my week! The check in process was fairly straight forward but they told me they "upgraded" me to a better room which seems to be a common practice. We booked an oceanview deluxe room. There are 12 buildings...building 1 and 2 are to the right from the lobby. Buildings 3-12 are to the left. We were in building 12. Calmore assisted us with getting bags to the room as there are no elevators and each building has 3 floors, we were on the 2nd. He also was great about answering any questions we had all week! The view was more peek at the Ocean than ocean view. The rooms are spacious and we had a king bed with his and her closets, double sink and a separate toilet area and rain head shower with separate hand held piece. We had a mini bar with beer, pop and water. There was also a coffee maker. There was a safe in one of the closets. The sheets and towels were a little dated and worn. The balcony had a round bed, table and two chairs and line to hang wet items. We also had a couch and chair in the bedroom. The housekeeping staff do a great job and it was clean. I would bring your own body wash, shampoo and conditioner. On the beach there were cabanas and lounge chairs but get there early as they go quickly! Our lifeguard on the beach JJ was very helpful in getting us acclimated and checking in on how we were doing! The water is shallow, may come up to shoulder level so not great for swimming but great for cooling down! There is a jerk chicken bbq station on the beach every lunch time at 12:30pm and it's great charcoal broiled chicken with some sides (rice and peas or rasta pasta) that comes in a brown box so you can eat right on the beach. There was also a West End gourmet hut where you could order fries, burgers, hotdogs, salad or chicken quesidillas at lunch and there were picnic tables there near building 8 and 9. There was a main restaurant Mohogany that was open from 7am and provided all three meals with a variety of choices and the food was good. Mahogany is located beside building 12. Tashawnda and Tassiscia took really good care of us in the dining room. There was also Beans in the lobby that had pretty good coffee, tea and pastry choices as well as patties and sandwiches that also opened at 7am and was open late. There was an italian restaurant that was open most nights where the food was okay. The Jamaican restaurant Ackee had really good authentic Jamaican food choices and I would recommend it. The Asian restaurant was your typical take out type chinese food and was okay. Ackee and Italian were near lobby and Asian was beside Mahogany. There were many choices for activities during the day that happened in various parts of the resort. The distrance from building 1-12 is quite a way so plan carefully on their app "Karisma". I chose to do water aerobics with Rayon every day at 11am at the swim up bar near the West End grill and was pleasantly surprised as he is an excellent instructor and it was a short but intense 25 minute workout after which I stayed to have drinks at the swim up bar in the pool where Damaine and Travis were very helpful and accommodating! We also booked a trip to Rick's cafe on the catamaran through the Westjet rep Jonel in the lobby who was so helpful! The boat ride to Rick's included snorkelling and about an 1.5 at Rick's cafe with a DJ and drinks and snacks (potato chips, cheesies) on the boat. It was well worth the $80 US we paid. You could also order (and pay) for food and drinks at Ricks. Nightly entertainment was available and was pretty good. There was a show and then the Nesta lounge available until the wee hours! Overall, it was a great trip but was a lot of walking from one end to the other!

Where to begin, we arrived and were told we had been upgraded and had to sign a disclaimer to say we wouldn’t complain. Positives Amazing location, fantastic staff in the main, Good entertainment, sailing on the hobie was free and great fun , the staff were fantastic. Negatives Food was poor overall, however recommend the tenderloin in the Italian and the buffet on Gala night. Housekeeping were shoddy and minibar consistently didn’t get filled, you had to go by 7am to get a beach bed or broker a deal with the towel boy.

“A mediocre experience !”

where do i start… we arrived at 2:30 check in is at 3:00 at 4:30 we just got into our room although the hotels check in line was not busy at all. we booked a sea view suite and was “upgraded” to a family suite which didn’t have a sea view but we bit the bullet on this one as it took so long to get into the room in the first place. the room was nice, very nice large bed. The shower rain head was damaged and did chuck water everywhere but was hot and done the job nonetheless. Everyday the room was cleaned and mini bar restocked. The TV in the bedroom didn’t work either but we moved the TV from the front room to the bedroom to watch TV. On to the food and drinks. the first night we went to the Asian inspired restaurant HUA HIN the server was very rude and wasn’t interested at all making some of the party we was with feel very uncomfortable to the point the hostess of the restaurant noticed and even made comment towards the table on the situation. We left and ended up going to The Palms for the buffet which is also very very limited and choice and never very hot. We also went tot Ackee tree and The Mahogany restaurant for “Jamaican night” which the food wasn’t bad that day to be fair but again not very hot. Lunch is the best time to eat and we found that we would just load up on food at lunchtime Jerk chicken on the beach is good although they cut most of the meat off the breast parts of chicken and come like you was given chicken back. The lunch time grill is also very good the burgers and the jerk chicken salad defiantly got us through the trip The drinks come from bottles and can be very flat if the bottle has sat open for a while. getting a decent spot on the beach can be very hard unless you get up very early as guests do like to leave floats and towels on sunbeds and loungers from the evening/afternoon before as one lady moaned her things wasn’t where she left them on a sun bed even when given another from the life guard she didn’t use the bed all day so others missed out on getting the chance to use it. good pointes i would like to make as the staff are amazing the life guard who was by our room on the beach, Sparkles was so entertaining and the young lady who served us in The Ackee tree restaurant went above and beyond along with the security on the beach always smiling and having a laugh with the guests. would i come back to this hotel probably not the room was nice even with the TV and shower problems but the food really let this hotel down big time.
