“John from the UK”
Montevideo is a lovely City to visit. The Orpheo Express is a modern hotel with great access to the main tourist attractions of the old town. There are plenty of museums and galleries within walking distance as well as an abundance of restaurants and cafes.

“Clean & economic hotel in the center of the downtown”
It's a clean, economic and compact hotel, and is very convenient base for tourist, although the trafiic sound around the hotel may be a bit noisy. Bed is pretty comfortable, and staff is very helpful to book tours.

While the hotel is well situated in the Old City, it is in relatively poor condition. During my stay, one of the elevators was malfunctioning (it constantly opened and closed with a loud thud and stalled on me once while I was in it) and the rooms were run down.
