We booked this hotel as a last minute deal and it seemed too good to be true, however we had a bargain. The hotel is large with well over 1000 guests, but you wouldn’t think it. The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere, the staff do a fantastic job and are seen cleaning all day. Our room was spotless and cleaned very well daily. The rooms are a little dated and the furniture has had a bit of wear and tear but this is pretty minor and my personal opinion. The walls are a little thin and you can hear other guests, we were close to the lift and could hear people returning from the 24 hour all inclusive bar…..: and the lift for the 6am sun bed hoggers. We are a couple without children so spent most of our time in the adults only area, the aforementioned sun bed blockers were in full operation in this area, we would meander down about 8am as the lift binging has woken us up from 6am to find 70% of the beds taken. We managed to get beds every day so it wasn’t a major issue but if you left it any later you had no chance. We didn’t stay around the main pool areas but there was always sun beds available. As an all inclusive hotel the food and drink was plentiful, the buffet restaurants were a bit hectic and busy but the quality of the food was good. The theme restaurants were ok, still buffet but made a nice change. The al’a’cart steakhouse was a nice treat with a giant fillet steak, the starter and desert were less impressive with the cheese cake smelling of smoked salmon??? Sticking with the restaurants, you need to be tech savvy and down load the Riu app in order to book them, you can only book 4 days in advance so the people here before us had the advantage and it took a while for us to get a reservation. we managed the Italian, Asian and the steakhouse but i was on the app before 8am to get these bookings we never made it to to the kullinarum restaurant as we just couldn’t get in. The drinks are plentiful but lacks a little variety. Mostly local brands and the red wine on tap is pretty bad, the wine in the restaurant aren’t much better, which is a shame. Entertainment isn’t really our thing but they ‘go large’ here!! The white party, neon party and the rock night were massive and guest from other Riu hotels are bussed in for it. There’s enough places to get away from the crowd if that’s not for you and it finishes at a sensible time so not too invasive. Finally the staff are a massive asset to this hotel, they were all really helpful, friendly and polite. One further point, this is very much German favourite and we were definitely in the minority as a British couple, which is just fine by us!! Definitely recommend this hotel
