This is a modern hotel which is about 10 minutes walk to the central part of Tirana. Our room was modern, clean and quiet with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The air conditioning was not perfect and in the end we turned it off. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a great stay at a reasonable price.

“Good experience, apart from one bad incident with staff that really ruined our stay”

Had an overall good experience at this hotel, except for one incident. Myself and my husband were not informed of the requirement to make a reservation to use the spa and had only been told on check-in that we would be able to use it for a maximum of 1 hour on each day of our stay. As a result, on Valentine's Day we had planned our day so that we would come back to the hotel to use the spa before heading out for the evening. We had already used the spa once prior to this, without a reservation and had not been told otherwise on that occasion either. But when we turned up this time, we were informed of the requirement to book and turned away as the spa was at full capacity. The female employee at the spa who informed us was unsympathetic, unapologetic and rude and didn't accept our explanation that we had not been informed of this requirement to book and would have made sure to book on our arrival at the hotel, had we known. We were then sent down to reception to speak to the staff there. Again, similar to the rude response to the female employee at the spa, the woman at reception, I believe her name is something like 'Ela' was equally as rude and dismissive of our explanations. To my astonishment she even started saying very dismissive things like 'chill out' and did not offer up an apology at any point, but instead chose to suggest that we were lying and making the whole thing up. She seemed more concerned that other guests could hear our complaints rather than actually helping us and offering up a solution. So rather than coming up with a solution herself, she finally asked us what we wanted, and, being put on the spot, I suggested she should offer us spa treatments for the inconvenience as that was the only thing I could think of since we were leaving the next day. Obviously not wanting to give us this, she suddenly and conveniently found that there was in fact room in the spa for us to go in then. As I write this, I am still in complete and utter disbelief of the service I have received from a hotel that seems to proudly boast they are 'affiliated by Melia'. The fact that the hotel boasts this information beside its name is the only reason I chose to book. If it didn't say 'affiliated by Melia', I wouldn't have given it a second glance. The Melia brand should feel humiliated that their good reputation is being smeared by employees that don't know the first thing about customer service. I would suggest a complete overhaul of the reception and spa staff, and to give those jobs to people who actually want them and know what it means to provide exceptional customer service to its guests and to work for a hotel that associates itself with the Melia brand.

There was no kettle in the room, and no bathrobe either. The breakfast was boring and never changed, and the dinner was disappointing — definitely not worth the half board option.
