My family and I visited in April, this was our first chalet experience and second ski holiday. Our hosts Arthur and Megan were amazing and we had the good fortune to meet some great families who were also staying in the chalet. Our hosts arranged for all the children to have their dinner first which meant the adults had a more relaxed meal afterwards. Having WiFi meant children were happy but one family had bought portable hard drive that meant movie night became a regular feature. Food was amazing, French dishes in the evening and wonderful breakfast and cake in the afternoon. I don’t remember feeling hungry once Location was perfect, although the run down to the ski school took a bit of getting used to (I’m a beginner and you have to go down a green / blue run ) but I became more confident as the week went on. We all really enjoyed the runs around Val Thoren and soon had our favourites. There’s a blue run which takes you back to within 2 mins of the chalet. The children and I were at Prosneige ski school - smaller classes than ESF. There’s Carefour and Sherpa close to the chalet which meant we could get some provisions for lunch. We are already looking at dates for next year to return to Chalet Sequoia !

We have never stayed in a catered chalet before and after this experience would definitely do this type of accommodation again. Firstly, the hosts Rob & Iona were only 18 & 19 but were absolutely brilliant. Rob was on his own first couple of nights and he cooked dinner, breakfasts for 13 people without getting flustered in the slightest. He was always so polite and confident and such a lovely young man. Iona was also a breath of fresh air and always smiling. The food was spot on and the homemade cakes left for afternoon tea were delicious. They both gave great advice on the area & where to go skiing. George our rep was always very polite and helpful too and organised our ski passes when we got there. It is a great way to meet new people and a very sociable atmosphere. There were 4 couples and a group of 5 men in the chalet and everyone mixed and chatted in the lounge before dinner. It was quiet at night as everyone was in bed by 10pm to be up for skiing. The last 3 days we went skiing with some of the other guests which was great fun. The chalet is in the perfect spot for access to the slopes - practically ski in and ski out. The ski hire shop is about 10 metres away as are the local bars and restaurants. We liked the Tango bar next door as great chilled atmosphere and DJ playing good music. The rooms are basic but comfortable with enough storage and our shower was large, clean and always hot. All you need for a ski holiday really. I took a hairdryer as could not see any mention but there was a communal one in the lounge which people took back to their rooms to use. The only thing I would say is the hosts boss used to come in at times and was always miserable, never smiled or spoke to us as the paying customer. He just gestured for the hosts to see him outside. I saw another post previously about bad management and did not understand it but after seeing this mans attitude can totally see what they meant. He needs to brush up on his customer service skills and remember that if there were no customers he wouldn’t have a job. It doesn’t take a minute to smile, say hello and ask customers if they are having a nice holiday ! Overall a great week in a lovely chalet with a fantastic ski area on your doorstep.

“Incredible Chalet in Val Thorens”

Been a couple of weeks since I have come back from Chalet Sequoia and I have to say that my stomach had a good work out from the amount of laughing we had! The chalet hosts were very entertaining. Mike, Lizzie and Fred, you kept us entertained throughout the evenings, thank you for you hospitality and thank you for the cakes and meals. We ate like Kings and Queens... and drank like them too! The chalet should be called Chalet Vin Rouge as that was the main thing consumed on a daily basis! The chalet was a mixture of families and groups of friends (us) but we all got on and had a great laugh. The room was spacious enough. I had Room 2 which meant I had to share the loo but had a private bathroom on the landing. I would recommend to take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as the walls can be a little on the thin side so any noises from the kitchen can be heard. However, this didn't spoil the experience and I would certainly visit again! P.S Crystal Ski, loving the competition you guys have with serving the food. The whole chalet were behind the hosts - hope you enjoyed the beer!

“Cannot fault... apart from management.”

I stayed in Chalet Seqouia in March with my family and what a wonderful time we had! Michael and Lizzie were everything we could have asked for from our chalet hosts providing us with great food, great entertainment and of course, kept the wine flowing and for that, we cannot fault Crystal. They did a great job of keeping the chalet ship shape and are an asset to the Crystal team. However, the only thing stopping them getting a higher rating is the poor management team Crystal have in place in Val Thorens. The two managers were in and out of the chalet when our hosts weren't there and not once did they introduce themselves to us. As a parent of two young children, I want to know who is in and out of our chalet and it wasn't until our hosts explained that we even knew. I even went out one morning to see one of them banging on the garage door looking rather worse for wear. Crystal, you have provided us with a fantastic holiday! The chalet, food, wine and hosts are all something to be proud of. But sort out your management and employ people that can give at least a basic degree of customer service.
