Very small rooms but clean. Hotel is a very old building that had some renovations but needs more. Walls are paper thin. Can hear other guests talking thru walls. Was there for only one night so made best of it. Downstairs has a "honesty" area where you can buy drinks (soda, beer, wine) and snacks. You pay by credit card but there is no one there if something goes wrong. Surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. Lake out back with ducks and other wildlife. Cool brewery close by with food. Friendly staff. Not many other choices. Easy free parking.

The Hótel Snæfell in Seyðisfjörður is in the old post office. Check in is at Hotel Aldan. (They have rooms in a few different buildings.) That’s also where the bar and restaurant is. We had planned on eating at the bar across the street but they had fish and chips on the daytime menu and that sounded great. They had a good selection of craft beer too. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice view.

The place is clean, the wooden floors are absolutely beautiful (in my room, at least), and the building is quaint. Location is great, right in the center of town - can go for some beautiful hikes without having to drive at all. Can use the fridge to store a small quantity of food, or purchase wha… more

The place is clean, the wooden floors are absolutely beautiful (in my room, at least), and the building is quaint. Location is great, right in the center of town - can go for some beautiful hikes without having to drive at all. Can use the fridge to store a small quantity of food, or purchase what you need from the 'honesty bar' deal, whereby you pick what you want and charge yourself for it. View out my window was amazing (facing the water). The building being 100 years old is a mixed bag; although it's cool and unique, the walls are as paper-thin as other reviewers have suggested. I did not sleep well - and I was there in off season (April) when the building was half-occupied. It became necessary to nap during the afternoons. You will know each time your neighbors use the toilet, use the sink, take a shower, have a quiet conversation, fart, burp, or move a chair. Courteous guests will try not to pull doors closed (instead, they'll turn the handle and close the door quietly) but you shouldn't expect this; while I was there, I was constantly hearing slamming doors. It's enough to shake the walls and jar yours truly awake. There simply may not be much that you as a guest can do to prevent this.
