We visited Matheran after a long time and were really hoping to stay at a nice place. Byke is located just a little away from main market and is a spacious well maintained property. check in was smooth . Rooms are well maintained. The food was the highlight as we had requested for Jain food. The manager of restaurant was attentive and prompt. Sorry missed asking his name. Activities are complimentary and are good fun. Gauri sang some beautiful songs specially old ones and kept the audience engaged. DJ night was just what we needed to unwind. Reaching the hotel still remains a challenge but once you reach there it is just relaxation and fun.

The Byke Heritage at Matheran is situated nearly at the end of the main M.G. Road. It is recognized as the largest hotel property in Matheran and features the oldest bungalow in the area, constructed by Matheran's founder, Mr. Hugh Malet. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from Matheran station, so I recommend hiring a porter or coolie to assist with your luggage. Additionally, it is advised to buy any necessary groceries from the market itself, as there are not many shops close to the hotel. Guests should note that the hotel is situated on a hilly slope and involves walking many steps; therefore, it may not be suitable for senior citizens or those with difficulty walking on slopes. While the property holds a rich heritage, the rooms are old and the quality of food served in the restaurant is average or below average. Mobile network is poor here but a good Wifi connection is provided. I feel there is plenty of scope for improvement, specifically regarding the quality of rooms and the dining experience. Despite its history, no one at the hotel provided a brief historical background during our stay. The highlight for families is the variety of amenities for children, including badminton, cricket, indoor games, and an adventure park for older kids, alongside outdoor play equipment for younger ones. The hotel also hosts engaging activities such as: * Rain dance * A swimming pool for adults and another for children with water slides * A disco * Karaoke nights with Gauri, who was a wonderful entertainer and a highlight of our trip. The overall experience at the hotel is quite average, but the extensive activities keep children busy. When you consider their pricing, the experience feels much better; it provides excellent value for money for the price they charge. If you are traveling in a large group, this is a good option as it provides solid entertainment. However, you can find a better quality experience and much better food at Usha Ascot, which is located directly opposite this hotel. Like any other location in Matheran, this hotel has many monkeys which come with their own set of challenges.

Review for Bike Heritage Resort, Matheran (Stay: 25th–27th October) We recently stayed at Bike Heritage, Matheran from 25th to 27th October. The location is peaceful but quite far from the main market. The resort needs to improve its room maintenance — our room was not properly cleaned, and we even found broken glass pieces which unfortunately injured my wife. The bathroom had leakages, and the intercom was not working. For any service request, guests need to contact the manager via WhatsApp, as the reception phone is often unattended. The food experience was good — we enjoyed the Gujarati Thali during lunch. However, the resort should consider serving breakfast and dinner inside the restaurant during rainy weather instead of in the open area. Also, please note that transportation in Matheran is limited — there are only around 20 e-autos available, and you might have to wait nearly an hour in line to reach Dasturi Naka. Overall, the resort has potential, but it definitely needs improvement in cleanliness, maintenance, and guest convenience.
