Buahan - BTE was our bucket list stay and it far exceeded expectations. The bales, the food, spa and free activities were all amazing. If you’re hesitant about having no walls – don’t be. The cooling mechanisms work perfectly and even the heaviest rain didn’t require winding down the outer blinds. Yes you might see some critters but the nighttime netting is more than adequate against mosquitos: embrace the natural white noise of the birds, insects, luak and the rushing waterfall. If you’re lucky like us you’ll see fireflies too. Staff were relaxed and helpful and, mostly local, they were genuinely proud of the hotel. They really make your stay a personal, home away from home experience. Could not fault.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our babymoon and this was an unforgettable stay! Firstly, the hotel’s unique no-walls concept is executed beautifully and makes for the ultimate romantic jungle retreat. Our Buahan Valley Pool Bale had a stunning view of the forest and the mountains, and the plunge pool was heated (which we were told is only a feature in this room category and above). The bales themselves are all identical on the inside, simple but huge, artistically made, with luxurious amenities and effective air conditioning above the beds to make sleep comfortable. Although our trip was in the March rainy season, we didn’t face mosquito issues inside the bale and outside was quite manageable with some bug spray. Overall the resort is spread across a steep hill and requires a good deal of walking / climbing stairs - especially to lower category rooms so its not too practical for guests with mobility issues. But for pregnant guests or guests who can’t climb a lot, the Buahan Valley Pool Bales and Seven Peaks Bales are quite accessible and close to the main hotel facilities. The staff was really kind and attentive throughout the stay! Service was above par. The mixologists on the property are exceptional - both mocktails and cocktails were uniquely Bali, and fantastic, throughout our stay. On the food front, breakfast was very nice. Lunch was is à la carte with sufficient options (including for vegetarians). The quality of chefs is good but not exceptional. Dinner every night is a curated set menu which is included in the stay - and menu leaned mostly local South East Asian. This was a hit or miss both from a variety standpoint and quality of preparation. While the set menu approach is nice in theory, this can be a better experience if guests are given 2-3 options to choose from - maybe one South East Asian and one more familiar western option - especially for the mains. “Outstanding experience”

It was our first trip to Bali and finally it became the best experience that we had at a hotel ever. In the middle of the impressive nature with breathtaking view and sound of jungle we could really retreat and enjoy a few days that we will keep in our mind. It was our first trip to Bali and finally it became the best experience that we had at a hotel ever. In the middle of the impressive nature with breathtaking view and sound of jungle we could really retreat and enjoy a few days that we will keep in our mind. A service that left nothing to be desired. For example when we asked for a possibility of a short hiking tour to other side of the valley we got is with a special kindness that impressed us a lot. The food created in the open kitchen was amazing and completed this outstanding experience. Especially in morning, when we enjoyed our breakfast with the view to the mountains and the haze of the jungle passing the valley. The room, better to say our villa, was fantastic and definitely unique. No walls, doors, windows just some curtains at night as mosquito protection. Definitely a place that we felt in love with an still having just one word to describe: "WOW"

The 3 night experience in this property was nothing short of stunning and highly memorable. Only 16 villas hidden from each other in the hillside, a narrow stone winding path, open “villas” with no walls in the “jungle” overlooking the lush green hillside. Impossible to describe the experience of sitting in sheltered comfort with open walls while its raining outside or falling asleep listening to the insects in the forest around you or waking up at daylight to birds. Almost feels like glamping in the hillside forest in open wall wooden huts instead of tents. We went in the rainy season so I was a little worried since we had heavy downpours almost every day, but had no rain some into the open villa/room at all. Impeccable service. Great spa experience (try a 30 minute foot massage in your room). Multi-course dinner every night. I think it’s best to come here at the end of your trip in Bali after you have done all the sightseeing so that you can just relax and soak in the experience instead of driving around to complete your tourist checklist. Highly recommended for anyone looking for some quiet “away” time in nature (I believe no children are allowed). We stayed in Villa 3
