Visiting this hotel has been on my bucket list for years. This month I thought I could squeeze in a quick weekend stay ahead of a business trip to Europe. I booked two rooms online just a few days before the busy Easter holiday weekend, one king suite in the newly renovated Manor and one king room Hunter’s yard. The day after I made the reservation I got a call from Karim at the front desk to confirm the details. I really appreciated his assistance and attention to detail as there are two different buildings and I wasn’t sure about the logistics. My sister and I were going to share the Manor suite and my teenage nephews were going to share the other room. It’s about a five minute walk between the two but my nephews are very active and couldn’t wait to get out and see all of the facilities and to play golf. When they arrived at the hotel the rooms were ready and available before check in time of 4pm. They are beautifully appointed and we received a welcome gift and note which is always appreciated after a long trip. The real gift was the Manor suite itself, recently renovated, incredibly comfortable and meticulously clean with a view of the river that is absolutely serene. The goal of this trip was to completely relax and the set up couldn’t be better. My nephews loved being in Hunter’s Yard, I had told Karim that they’re both athletes and he put them in a room right next to the gym which they appreciated. They also enjoyed the buffet breakfast and the late night room service for post dinner toasties! Each day they used the gym, rode bikes, hit balls in the range and then went out for a round of golf. It’s not easy to please teenagers but these two were absolutely thrilled with the set up. Between flight delays leaving the US, and then issues landing in Dublin I didn’t make it in the end. My brother in law was happy to take my place and he and my sister loved their suite in the Manor. They said it was so peaceful that they spent most of their time there just quietly reading and taking in the river view. They had spa appointments including massages that they said were excellent. We had made dinner reservations ahead of our stay but the staff were flexible and the group ended up having one more casual dinner at the Hound and one incredibly memorable dinner at the restaurant in the Manor to mix it up a bit. The food and service at all meals was excellent. I’m so grateful to Karim for assisting with all of the details. As my schedule was falling apart I emailed him on Saturday morning to let him know I’d missed my connection. He reassured me that everything would be ready for this family visit and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I can’t wait to bring my family here for a visit with their cousins.

Had a one night stay in the Manor House and it was wonderful in every aspect. There has been a good deal of refurbishment since we previously stayed last summer and the place is beautiful. Bedroom wonderful, everything about the Manor House was impressive. On this occasion we had dinner in the Hound restaurant and it was fabulous. Breakfast in the Lady Helen restaurant was as usual excellent. Place was very well maintained and staff were very engaging, courteous and friendly. The grounds are very impressive and for sure we will return.

Had afternoon tea at Mount Juliet over Easter. It was fine however miserable looking. This must be directed from the new owners as it wasn't like this previously. Three tiny cakes. Afternoon tea is about the cakes. One scone. Previous ownership - two scones, more cakes, bigger cakes. I was underwhelmed. Westbury, Dublin always offer more sandwiches. Not so here. Afternoon tea looks like a WW2 ration. Nothing wrong with the quality. The new decor is beautiful however the tea things are as old as Methuselah. The staff are as always the best asset the hotel has. Its a pity the photo of the McCalmonts has been removed from reception. They form part of the Manor House's history. Portions need to be improved and buy new dinnerware - the current set doesn't match the new soft furnishings. Also the postulant uniforms on the waitresses - awful. The boys have swanky waistcoats. However still love Mount Juliet.
