Guests at Banchetta say: This is a lovely, traditional, family-run hotel. The hotel is in the Borgata area of Sestriere, so outside of the main resort, but within 5 minutes walk of four chair lifts, so fab access to all the ski areas, and the skiing is amazing. You can walk into Sestriere but it is about 40 minutes, but there is a bus and if you have a car, it's a 5-minute drive. As others have said, there is not much in Borgata in the evenings, but we found the hotel bar and dinner-service enough for most of our evenings, although we did venture out a couple of times (by car). There is car parking outside the hotel, on the forecourt, or you can park in the huge (free) car park over the road.
As a family, we had a double room and a single room (although the single was allocated a double also). The rooms were clean and traditionally furnished, clean and crisp white cotton bedding, plenty of fresh towels and toiletries, and a hairdryer. We also had a sofa and writing desk area in our room (8), and access onto a shared balcony (across the front of the hotel). The mattresses were a little firm, but that depends on your preference. Plenty of hot water, morning and night, and we found the rooms warm, so much so that we slept with our window open (even having turned the radiator down).
We stayed for two weeks and found the food to be lovely. They serve a traditional Italian menu, every night there is an appetiser, followed by a choice of two starters, followed by a choice of two mains, followed by a choice of two desserts. I am a very fussy eater, and there was something I enjoyed every night. There is also a good wine list, including house wine which you can have by the carafe (full, half, quarter), plus a well stocked bar serving alcoholic and soft drinks, cocktails and coffee. Breakfast is a cold buffet, cereals, boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, cake, bread (toaster), yoghurt, fruit, and juices/tea/coffee. You can pay extra for a hot cooked breakfast, if you wish. The waiting staff in the restaurant are lovely and so very attentive.
There is a nice bar that you can sit in at any time, and is nice before dinner for a pre-dinner drink (served with complementary snacks), playing games and fussing the lovely little dog, Lucy. The family are very helpful and accommodating...nothing is too much trouble.
We used the sauna area one evening, which was small but nice, and lovely after a day skiing. Unfortunately the jacuzzi is out of action (appears to have been for a long time).
The only small gripe I would have is with the ski store boot-room, as there is not a heated drying area for boots. It was not a problem for us in March, but I could imagine it being difficult to get your boots dry in the colder/damper months. Having said that, many other residents kept their boots and skis at the ski-locker next to the chair lifts (ski-school), for a small charge.
Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely Yes. Would I go back again? Absolutely!!!
