We stayed at Borgo Cortese for only one night, but this was enough to let us appreciate a confortable room with a full range of equipment and amenities found only in 5 stars hotels, in a renovated building, full of character, in the heart of this charming medieval town of Gavi. And let's not forget the hearty breakfast which included sweets, for those of us who have a sweet tooth. Bravo Toni, the manager, for also providing a free, covered and fully protected garage.

We stayed at Borgo Cortese for 2 nights whilst visiting Gavi for easy access to the McArthur Glen shopping outlet in nearby Serravalle and what a great and friendly experience it was. From the time we arrived to the time we left we were extremely well looked after by the owner "Tony" and were made to feel completely at home. The title of B&B does not do it justice, the room was of a good size, superbly comfortable bed with a very tasteful en-suite bathroom. There was also a very large balcony area which alas was under utilised on a cold weekend in February, although I am sure overlooking the river would be a great vantage point in the summer months. The location is very central with underground parking available within a 2 minute walk. Finally the breakfast was absolutely superb, served adjacent to the room in a lovely farmhouse feel dining room. I really can't recommend this place enough and if you are in the Gavi area looking for well priced, well located and super friendly host then give Tony a call, you won't be disappointed.

This B&B is well positioned, in a quiet street of the very heart of the old town. It is a recently beautifully renovated old building with newly refurbished rooms. Our room on the first floor was spacious, nicely furnished, well-equipped, and very clean, the beds were really comfortable, bedding as white as snow, towels soft and fluffy. Wonderful large terrace with a fantastic view overlooking the small river. Fast, reliable WiFi. Breakfast was simple but plentiful and presented really beautifully. The host/owner/manager Toni gave us the warmest possible welcome and was very friendly and highly attentive all the time throughout our 5 days stay. He was doing his best to make us feel at home and we fully enjoyed this beautiful place and its cosy atmosphere. It may be a bit on the pricey side for a B&B, but it is worth it.

You couldn't ask for a nicer host, a more central location, plenty of character, cleanliness throughout and the great benefit of secure parking in the heart of a medieval town and fair value. A lot of work has gone into maximizing the use of medieval space. The Rainwater Shower, for example, was fine.But every travel establishment and traveler have to decide the price point and features that make sense for them. Sometimes small variances loom large in tastes and tolerances. Our "River View" room was cozy, comfortable and quiet. But the radiators being on a timer we couldn't control was unpleasant. While the breakfast was "generous" it was pretty basic, and disappointing with several local bakeries nearby offering more interesting fare and our appreciation of better coffee. The breakfast room-and our room, were down 14 or so stairs. A bit of a challenge for older folks on a long trip with heavy luggage. I'm sure we could have had help if asked for, and your hotelier doesn't know who you are in advance. This is an excellent "budget" accommodation. But we would pay more for a better breakfast and a change of towels each day. I suspect many clients would agree, but all the 5 star ratings may reassure them that they have already made the right choices.
