We enjoyed our stay in hotel Adriana. The heated (!) pool with mountain view is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy time with the kids. Very friendly staff and good animators. The hotel is not too big or too busy. Very clean and perfectly adjusted to the current covid measures. We can recommand this hotel to all families.

We recently holidayed with our two children for one week at the Adriana and we have been to different Kinderhotels before. We were very happy with the location (stunning and much quieter than at neighbouring Garda), our room, the free bicycles on offer and the price which we thought was very good value in comparison to other Kinderhotels. However, the food was a slight let-down for us; some options were very good, others were not good at all and often, presentation of food would not be very appetising. Yes, we payed nearly half of what we payed at other Kinderhotels in Austria and there we were used to fine dining experiences every day, not at the Adriana. Generally, we would have preferred smaller portions along with better quality and decoration. We thought it was odd that reception did not speak English but only Italian and German, while the restaurant manager spoke no German but English and Italian. Reception staff seemed tired, but we found waiting staff was very keen and polite. I did not like the fact that there was no folder in the hotel room informing you of meal times, kids club procedures, phone numbers, hotel services etc. which would have been useful. We were not too impressed by the kids club; it was a fairly quiet time and sometimes our kids were the only children there. The three ladies also seemed a little unmotiovated and the kids club room is small and mainly aimed at children under the age of 5. I do not think that the staff were tailoring their activities to the small number of kids and their varying ages very well. It is, however, still very convenient to have the kids club available. The wellness area was very nice and can be used with swimming costumes or without. Unfortunately, it was too cold to use the outdoor pool facilities (but we knew that) and the outdoor area for kids is not very big either. The decor of the hotel and the rooms is quite tired but everything is very clean. Still, we enjoyed our time and were lucky to have the most beautiful autumn weather for the whole week and the surrounding area is gorgeous and lends itself to many different activities.

What a week it was. Honestly, there are dozens of stories we could write about the Family Hotel Adriana, but most likely not many would read it, so breaking normal review style, I will just list some bullet points of examples, both positive and negative (so mixed) and write a short TLDR summary? Deal? OK, let's go. - When we arrived (after a net 7.5 hour drive), our dog threw up water (no trace of food whatsoever). I offered to clean it up, which a somewhat rude receptionist accepted, but then I needed to ask her for cleaning material (instead of her being proactive). Once done, she came and complained to me that now she needs to call the cleaner... thanks lady! I just arrived quite exhausted and you can't tell me before I start that anyway it needs to be cleaned? Jeez. - Yes, they provide baby phones (not cameras!), but the first one we got didn't work, other needed to be charged, etc. so we just found an alternative solution - The food was OK, at times tasty, at times not really. For what you pay, we think it was a fair offer. - Half-board dinner ordering... oh boy, what an incredibly complicated system, especially if you have toddlers... not to waste too many letters on it, let's put it simply. The starting point is that you get access to a salad buffet (with veggies, but also a lot of fried food options) and on top you get a first And a second course, served (which you need to select from 3 options). Cool. Small challenge: you have to decide on what you will eat the next day for dinner. We were two families sitting together with 2 toddlers with a lot going on, so of course we didn't make a mental note on who ordered what (3-3 options for first and second course) and anyway the two kids were running in and out, sometimes eating, then playing, etc. with one parent at least always monitoring them, etc. so it was super chaotic. And it made us ask ourselves the question - why did you need two courses served if you anyway have a buffet? Just make the buffet richer and serve one course (and give 2 options for that...). (But we partially get it, probably the hotel has a TON of food waste in any case, unfortunately and they are still trying to go for the 4* appeal..) - Besides the system being way overcomplicated, we were not explained it properly, because the restaurant manager was very overloaded; so the stress of taking care of everything was very tangible (and to a large degree because most of the staff don't speak neither English or German) - So about the staff, some of them spoke a bit in English, some a bit in German, some of them were rude/grumpy, some of them were friendly, but it was a real mix. It kind of felt like they were kept on a tight leash at times (more on this later). - The super appealing daycare offer! is a joke or at least it should come with a very strong *, explaining the details. So the 11am to 9pm offer also stands for toddlers below the age of 3. Cool, BUT they are supervised by one lady who only speaks Italian and did not give off vibes that she really knows what to do with them to keep them entertained for long, unless they are more like babies. And the kids are kept in a ball pit room (admittedly fun) and a play kitchen area, done. So our roughly 2-year old kids would've been entertained for like 1-2 hours max. and then would be running to go on the swings, etc. meaning we couldn't use this grand offer at all. - Children's program - there are many aspects that we didn't try out (like all the day ones), but one of the main reason we missed the evening ones is that the main animation program was from 9pm to 10pm... as it turns out, in (Northern?) Italy it is standard for kids to stay awake until 10pm, but for us our toddlers were passing out from exhaustion by roughly 9pm, so they missed most of the fun (with admittedly interesting programs) - And then there is the noise... The noise from the 9pm to 10pm animation echoes throughout the entire valley and can be heard kilometers away, so if your kids are sleeping and sensitive to the noise, make sure to ask for a room facing away from the program. We luckily got one facing away from it all, only to be woken up by very loud church bell ringing at 7am, haha (but we got used to that). Or keep the windows closed, but since they don't have AC, in the Summer this is not really an option - The facilities are nice with a playground and a pool in the hotel area, ping-pong table and table football, etc. and a rather large, fun kid's room with a lot of options - The staff taking care of the kids above 3 years of age seemed quite nice and looked like they knew what they are doing to a large extent - The rooms are mixed, ours was rather large, but quite old in style and condition (our friends received a recently renovated alternative) - The reason we also highlighted the staff being kept on a tight leash is because of how the stroller rental was orchestrated; one day we just wanted to take a stroller (there were plenty available), to which they told us that we need to strictly register taking it with return... again, fine system/rule if there wouldn't be 12 available. Maybe they had thefts in the past? In any case, we learned the benefit of making the rental official on day 3, when all of a sudden all strollers were already rented and gone by 08:00 in the morning, which resulted in a seemingly huge race to reserve strollers early enough (or late enough in the night) - The ambiance of the hotel overall is admittedly quite pleasant; most of the guests are Italian and some clearly showed that they are not happy being parents, but most were nice and friendly and with them one could really enjoy all the amenities that the hotel offers - We also found the location to be nice; while for sure it is not on Lake Garda, it is in turn considerably cooler and with what seemed like an almost constant fresh breeze; also Locca has the charm of a small village In summary, we quite strongly Not recommend this hotel for families with kids between (around) 1-3 years of age, unless they are used to staying awake quite late. For families with babies and kids above 3 (even better, above 4) it is a good option, especially considering the very competitive price.

Absolutely unable to provide balanced vegan food (I had to come up with a dish/recepie). Service is stressed most of the time. Coffee and tea only included in breakfast. Finished at 10 o’clock means they turn off the lights on you. Kids care is very kind and they try with different options. Could be more immersive and inclusive. First for-familys trip was well organized and a lovely experience. Playground is wonderful. Rooms are spacious and clean. View is good. Noise from some hotel engines at night isn‘t to great but closed windows help. Kitchen and concept are stuck in the early 2000.
